LIVE GAME Round 13 v Bulldogs

Live Game Discussion
I was actually thinking that. Offloads are usually off the cuff but KPP offload to Bula are well timed and seem like set plays.
Off loads aren’t so much off the cuff with our team, they are generally one of the game’s leaders in this stat. It is trained for.
We are finally seeing Bula receive the ball more regularly off forwards.
The more he follows them, the more linebreaks we will make.

It’s not PC…they mention it when it’s warranted.
A lot of the negative takes here are blinkered and sometimes incorrect. They also display at times a lack of knowledge of the nuances within a game.
Instead of praising a heroic piece of defence, they bang on about a potential missed ref call 3 plays earlier.
There’s no getting away from it. It infests every bloody thread. Very similar to the HBG stuff at the start of the year.
Referees are a negative nuance on the game. Someone please send an email.

I was at the game. It’s funny what you see there and what you miss when watching on TV. From my perspective, I didn’t really notice Seyfarth’s errors but was impressed with the following:
* Skelton was like Royce Hunt in his returns. Hit the line with no self preservation, often was down in his haunches after the play the ball.
* Turuva was outstanding in his hit ups, poked his nose through nearly every time and got a fast play the ball.
* Twally was immense. His clean up work and one-on-ones saved us a number of times. Big loss with the injury.
* Jock looked like he was still carrying an injury. His kicking game did lack some depth at times and he needs to run more often.
* Bula was great! Couple of massive defensive efforts and looked super with the ball in hand. He was directing the defensive line as well.
* A few times they switched sides with To’a at scrums. Not sure why? Maybe to protect him in contact but he made a couple of crucial tackles late in the game. Makasini looked good while he was on.
* Roycey definitely lifted the energy when he came on. Be great if we could get 30 minutes out of him.
* Terrel was so much more effective when he hits the line at speed rather than trying to offload. Defended the middle with Twal as well.
* Api was good but maybe just short of his best. Maybe needed the run.

While we defended our line well at the end, I thought the Dogs lacked any organisation or shape to really threaten us. This was evident throughout the game. Their really only attacking threat was Tuponoua.

Basically a tough, ugly win which we desperately needed. The Panthers will be a whole next level and we need to be on our game. Twal is a huge loss.

From where we sat Api did so much clean up work in defense, no surprise we concede 40+ when he’s missing.

He caught the markers offside couple of times and wasn’t rewarded too.

Seyfarth was around most of our bad efforts in defense.

It seems you’ve put a lot of work into identifying the negatives.
FTR I’ve never once said the refs don’t stuff up. They always have and likely always will.
I maintain that it’s the way the team responds that determines the result and last night proved this. Just because you get a rough penalty doesn’t mean your defence falls to mud. Likewise just because you aren’t getting 6 agains doesn’t mean you stop scoring. You shouldnt rely on them.
I must be confused. I thought this thread was to discuss the tigers v bulldogs game.

I was watching the replay when I got home from the game and outlined a passage of play - because all I had seen on socials was how hard by the dogs were.

I finished reviewing this morning and with 3 minute to go tuala stripped the ball toward his goal-line which wasnt a knock on from skelton. So another decision that gave the dogs a leg up and chance to even the game.

The tigers did well and ciradlo is unwarranted in his crying.

It is to discuss that game. Anything stand out to you other than ref mistakes?

... Tucker, love the HIV Positive attitude!

True. We need to make our own luck.

It was good to win, but we clearly have some work to do.
Looking at the dogs tries, they seemed to play that quick moving passing game that Penrith/Manly was famous for. A few of their guys really stood up. If their fans complain that Josh Curran should have been awarded the try, scoring off his own chargedown ok I will give them that.

Tough Titties, we get the 2 points.

Glad for the win.

Can someone please explain something to me as I’m at a bit of a loss when it comes to the rules these days and I haven’t seen anyone mention it. When Jarome caught the ball in the in goal, he caught it mid air, no feet on the ground. Wouldn’t that be play on and not a 20 metre restart? Cause he was off and running.

Aren't we all. Thank you Ref's.

Depends where he left the ground from. We were miles away and I didn’t catch it on the big screen but I thought play on live and the ref should have let it go.

The win wasn't pretty but it was exactly what we needed... Need to back it up against a depleted Panthers side next week 🐯🐯🐯
Problem is that we are also depleted.

Penrith replacements will run rings around any of the replacements we have and unfortunately we are reaching the stage of looking at replacements for our replacements. 😢

I’d like to see Penrith to a job on NZL today and Ivan look at getting some guys a rest for our game during a tough origin period. Probably dreaming. A win would really put us back on track though.

Good win and a good night. Much needed.
Anyone else at the game get annoyed that we dont show the replay of the opposition trys at the ground? Happened at the Broncos game too from memory. It gets covered up by advertising for the next game. Would be good to see what happened.
Trying to take out the hype from the opposition scoring. Just like the Tigers MC drowned out the Bulldogs crowd chant every time it started.

Ref ruled that he lept from the field of play hence goal line drop. Looked to me like he purposefully stepped into the in goal fractionally before leaving the ground so should have been 20m restart.
