LIVE GAME Round 13 v Bulldogs

Live Game Discussion
Re Luai, 100% if he throws himself on the ground Curran saves some energy and gets pulled up after 10m. That’s why I don’t really like the rule because it rewards the acting. I have a different view than most, I like grey, I think the game is grey and we should give referees discretion to rule in line with that. Black and white probably leads to more consistency which is good but I think it gives us non-natural results, like last night.
The 6 agains are examples of what happens when you leave it in the hands of the referee - no one is happy. At least with a black and white rule you mighten like it but you have to accept it's - the same for everyone no matter the circumstances

Thats an interesting take; blame fans for having issues with clear and obvious errors ("interpretations") made by the people in power at the NRL (refs, mrc etc) on a regular basis. If we were talking about on field decisions in the heat of action by a referee, its a different story, but we are talking about the bunker who has video technology with multiple replays and a match review committee who has even longer to deliberate on what action to take.

How do you explain Crichton getting away with so much?
I don’t blame the fans for saying all that. I agree with most of it. I have been an advocate longer than most to get rid of the bunker. It causes far more issues than it solves.
I said the fans fuel the drama. You cannot deny that, you jump in boots and all everytime there’s something to be outraged about….think Galvin, think HBG and now the refs.

I hate the 6 again because it changes how the game is played. Possession and fatigue has become more valuable than creativity and leads to unearned tries and blow out scores.
However rugby league rules have never been black and white. The rules are the same whether the penalty is a traditional penalty or a set restart.

Anyone that does not like it has to also not agree that broncos should be premiers, becuse Reese Walsh got a penalty after Fulltime because his leg was touched by hosking attempt at charge down of a field goal that was nowhere near going over and they got a penalty… so the rule us the rule ,, fir some reason it’s ok when it goes to the Broncos but the Tigers benefit from a rule for once and the rule is a joke that should not apply? What is the difference? By the way, I’m not saying the broncos didn’t thoroughly deserve to win the premiership, just that they would not have had that rule not been adjudicated the same way .
I just watched Cody Walket on NRL 360 agree that the kickers need to be left to do what they do without fear of having a leg broken. I do agree but i thought it was a soft call for us. I commend luiau for not diving coz i bet mitch moses would be on the ground crying like the baby he is.

I don’t mind the 6 agains. Where I get frustrated is inconsistency . Of the 7 6 agains we received against us at least 3 were for offside . Not being back 10 . And if they were offside , then I’m ok with those decisions .
What I’m not ok with , is the team spent large chunks of the game struggling to come out of our own end with clearly offside players rushing up .
And frustrating still , we gave away at least 2’of those 6 agains when we were rushing up and dominating .
My issue is consistency. And I’ve said too many times on here , the refs being full time is a huge contributor to the issue. They spend too much time watching video on teams , which IMO influences bias . They watch video they see behaviours and then search for those behaviours on the weekend. And because of the weird KPIs and metrics , unless they’re golden key Klein , none are willing to step out of line .

No way, to hell with the grey, it just allows bias to be employed by certain actors which creates more controversy and conspiracies.. nothing unnatural about last nights result, the netter team won and had to overcome a number of hardships..

Re the Curran “try”

Did he actually ground the ball ?

I’ve only seen it in fast motion & it looks like Bula may have got his hand under the ball & then they both slid over the sideline .
I agree - never saw the ball touch the ground over the line
