Why have the Warriors improved so much under Payten when it’s not even his roster? I thought coaches needed their own roster to perform. Strange.

Good man manger by the looks of things. Gets the best from what he has. Signs of a good coach.

Well Payton was always expected to be the long term successor to Sheens.

I’m keen to see him properly coach a team for a good while. If he gets the cowboys job he’ll go well they’ve got a great roster, any coach would want to go there

Might happen one day (Payten) as our coach.

Fingers crossed

I have a feeling some of our players seem to think so sooner than later...

Your right there.
We would be better to get him to the club once Madge has sorted out our playing culture.
And Payton has had a decent couple of years as a head coach.

Great player and showing signs of being a good coach. Have never understood why people were dirty at him for having aspirations to coach at WTs - especially when he was so influential over the development of young players who were coming through at the time.

We had a good 4-5 weeks too. Let’s see how he can go over a long period of time

We haven’t beaten a quality team all year. Payten has taken a team playing terribly and has them firing. They’re playing a good style of football too. Madge could learn a lot from how Payten is coaching.

This is their first win against a top 8 team all season. He’s got them going good for sure but I’m not gonna say he’s some amazing coach, big difference between a whole season and a couple months.

What do you think he’s done? They don’t even seem to be playing different just playing with more intensity and effort. I’m curious to see what he’s done behind the scenes to get them going, we were doing it a few weeks ago and now we’ve dropped off.

Ahh, correction 2nd.
They beat us when we were in 8th spot.

Against current top 8 teams it’s their first. Beating us is no feat that’s for sure ?

Knights played like they played last year. Their new coach got them going for a few weeks there but it seems like they have the same old issues as last season, players didn’t look bothered.

You know what it was last year.
The injury to Edrick Lee.
It’s rare that a winger makes that much of a difference but seriously they have collapsed at exactly the same time Lee got injured this year.

I don’t know what he’s done, I’m not privy to the dealings of the Warriors. But I hope Madge is trying to find out because it seems to me he’s completely run out of ideas.

And you’re right they’ve beaten only one top 8 team all year, but that’s still one more than us.

I don’t think Madge is out of ideas, I think he’s trying to give the boot to as many of our average players as he can and they know it.

We beat sharks who are a top 8 team, but they’re the worst team in the 8 ? interested to see if there’s any more changes to the coaching staff next season I’m hoping so

They weren’t in the 8 when we beat them.

Agree to disagree re Madge. The style we’re playing matched with him continually playing poor performers indicates he’s either run out of ideas or he’s given up.

He’s played every single player in our squad, so clearly he’s not happy with how they’re playing so I don’t think he’s continually playing poor performers. Benji the only one I wouldn’t have in the team at the moment.
