LIVE GAME Round 16 v Dolphins

Live Game Discussion
Please punt the MC. So full of himself. At our last game at Commbank, he actually sang a song. We don't need him or the noise between plays.
You couldn’t pay me to be an MC. Imagine the team getting rinsed, down by 40 and it’s your job to pump up the crowd. The last thing you wanna hear, sitting in the stands watching a thumping is the MC trying to get you to chant.

You guys aren’t blaming the MC for poor attendance are you? No excuses. Cheap tickets, beautiful day. The Knights game earlier in the year is the perfect example. Both teams were in good form & still couldn’t sell out. I have grave concerns for us next year, both on the field & off it if we play majority of games there. I really hope Campbelltown doesn’t get 8 games next year. They don’t deserve it. Before I get shot down as a Balmain v Wests thing, I grew up a Wests fan. I never walk into Campbelltown feeling like its home. Whenever I walk into Leichardt I not only feel it’s home but I have genuine belief we can beat whoever we play there. I have heard people say “the club has never embraced the area”. The club has invested more in the last 3 years into that area than they ever have into the inner west. What a shame we can’t give the funds for Campbelltowns upgrade to Leichardt. I always thought if the club focused the ticket pricing towards families they would sell it out. Well the club did & they still didn’t come.
This is spot on, there is absolutely zero excuse for that not selling out especially with the kids go free tickets, that is a promo which is pretty telling of the situation though, it was obviously made because there is no demand to go and would never occur at Leichhardt cus there is enough demand to go to the games, the club has embraced the area the last few years and the fans don’t turn up

We win that if Madden hadn't been taken out of the match, and we got absolutely nothing from the clearly high and possibly late contact either.

A player has blood pissing from a head wound, yet crickets from all officialdom.
There was enough in it to say came out of the line slightly reckless - penalty all year. Suddenly the injury not even considered. It's enough to assume the refs to an extend were on the Phins. This is how the NRL is now.

Fact is fans aren't stupid they can smell a losing day out at the footy, they had no problem selling out Cambo before the injuries struck and we were flogging teams that's the reality of this sports ground.

Maybe we still loose if we didn't lose Maddon and Herbert, but i think we would been more competitive.
Also probably the wrong week to not have Latu on the bench.
We still almost got there, the commentators were raving on about the dolphin players missing what about us. We are missing so many crucial players... and then lost more during the game.
The after game interviews didn't even include tigers players. Foxtel is FKD

Players dropping the ball and crucial missed tackles is what lost us the game. You can not make these errors against a good side who has been doing well and winning the last 7 weeks. I thought Sukkar had a really good game and cemented his position at Second row. He should be playing left edge, not sure why he is on the right. They need to use him in attack. The ball just stops dead and does not get out to him and that side of the play. I thought Toa had a good game and got more involved. The game changed when we lost our 7. We seemed to lose all our composure and structure went out the window.
I like young Tony and there is no doubt he has worked hard and made good improvements to his game this season.
He is now at the stage where he is a solid NRL player who makes decent post contact metres when running the ball and will make plenty of tackles with minimal misses and rarely makes an error. I think he is developing into a younger version of Alex Twal which is certainly not a bad thing.
In saying that he still has a long way to go before he is even close to having the same defensive intelligence and lateral movement as someone like KPP and although he runs the ball strongly, he has very limited footwork or unpredictability which results in him very rarely making tackle breaks, line breaks or being a real threat or concern to the opposition.
This is not all bad, it just neans his skill set is much more suited to playing prop rather than edge back row.
One day we will all learn including Benji that you need genuine attacking threats on your edges which include the edge back row and centres if you want to be a highly successful NRL team.
Obviously we cannot help injuries to both our starting edge back rowers, but we should have thought of having at least one back up who is an attacking threat to the opposition and we certainly should not have gone into season with the extremely minimal attacking threat within our centres.

Hard question and it would depend if they stayed in Sydney. Would be very hard to support if they ever moved interstate but I Love rugby league and hate every other team. A guaranteed extra two wins a season might not be enough most seasons for us to even make the finals so I’ll stick with trying to win a comp with playing at least half our games at Campbelltown
This is the problem - you don't really care about the wins. You care about the ground. The only reason you care about the ground is because you care about the Magpies - not Wests Tigers.

We'll never get anywhere while this attitude is alive.

No excuses..no.
But there must be a reason...what that is is what the club needs to work out why

I dont think Campbeltown itelf is the issue

We didnt play well enough for long enough
38% record.

3 from 15 recently.

Can't fill the ground even by giving away tickets. What an embarrassment.

There's obviously an issue playing "well enough for long enough" at this ground. There's also a massive issue with the supporters out there (frankly if you read the history, you'll know why there's no support out there).

The NSW Cup team plays out of Lidcombe for gods sake. The only reason Wests moved to Campbelltown was to save their ass back in 1987 and take over the old Campbelltown City Roos leagues club. The Roos wore BLUE and GOLD - Parramatta colors.

It was all about money, but the support and results never followed. Parra, Canterbury and Penrith were already established out there...we claim it as our nursery, but it was claimed long before Wests went there in 1987. Wests abandoned their fan base.

No one cares about us out there - they never did.
So you've said 3 or 4 times so far.
If your beloved Leichhardt wasn't left to become so run down and neglected by it's long term tenant . . . not just the last 25 years . . . maybe we could still play there.
Weird thing to say. We don't own the ground.

They rent the ground from the Council for just 3 to 4 days a year.

Expecting a sports team to pay tens of millions of dollars to upgrade an asset they don't own? Really? The responsibility for the neglect lies squarely with decades of local Council and State Government buck-passing, not the club.

My "beloved Leichhardt" is such a patronising comment from someone so ill-informed - it's about winning. You clearly couldn't care less as long as you "feel" like you are watching Wests at their old ground. Newsflash. Campbelltown was never Wests heartland - they have been completely rejected by the area since 1987 and the crowds and results prove that.

Macarthur should be the junior nursery. Campbelltown should host all junior games up to NSW Cup there. It makes sense. Leichhardt should be the undisputed stage for the NRL team. Wests Ashfield have the cash. Balmain has the brand. Start running the club that way and we will be so big and powerful in the next 10 to 15 years, we'll have to move out of Leichhardt to fit them all in each week.
