Live Game Discussion
Doueihi should have been trying to play 13 as a permanent role the entire time. Literally just model his game on Yeo. He has everything necessary to be able to be a good one bar the willingness it seems.
Totally agree i like the dude but don't think he likes the regular grind forwards go through

Doueihi was very impressive in his front foot play today. It was so refreshing for this tigers team the way he received the pass at the line and had his team with him. It was a little bit the quality of the play the ball and the strength of the forwards in creating it but it was also just doueihi playing sharp. I've felt for so long we're just too slow, too sideways, too flat footed. Doueihi was really good with that and had his team with him. Luai and Latu seem to try to play that way but they often seem on their own, no one going with them. It was noticeable how well doueihi brought the team with him. It's how we need our halves to play, even if doueihi isn't the one doing it.

I understand the misgivings with doueihi, he seems to double think his plays, like his kick direct to teddy today when he had time and space to make a better kick or take a different option and seemed to get caught up between those options. Similarly his dart to the try line where he knocks on, not quite sharp enough to get there, not sure whether to hold the ball or stretch out. He has a really good kicking game, probably our best, yet he kept kicking it to Tupou who kept setting up strong sets in the second half with dominant runs through our tiring forwards, he had to go the other way.

But he does a lot right. He was a terrible defender last year, unplayable, where this year he is one of our best. He was really good in his play off of and for Latu in that game and his effort is high. I think he can be a half in the NRL. There are a number of teams where he'd be a decent upgrade. I don't think that is here. He probably deserves a chance at an extended period in the halves elsewhere. It's interesting his evolution from a hard running no passing ball hog who couldn't tackle a few years ago to a creative organising player now.
I would possibly be a bit keener on Doueihi if he could produce 2 or 3 of those deadly spiral bombs each game. When is the last time we saw one of those?

We were are back to our usual programming. Get a win and now
Turva over bula
Ad over luai
Hope over api.

I get caught up as well wins are rare and it changes our mindset which is great but this is the reason we signed nofa for 5 years or gave contracts to a number of players that didn't really deserve them. Short term success.

There is zero worlds where any of the above are better or should be in front of the latter.

Ad played great i thought but with may and makka coming through his days at centre are numbered. For him to stay he will need to buy into a positional change i think probably a utility. I think he is too good for nsw cup.

Good post

Hope.is depth
Douehi is a better version of Staines yet depth...eventually.
Tito was stop gap #1 but hes in our top 13.

This board gets flooded and its generally negativity....its a shame weve had 6 or 7 weeks to be negative and we finally get the W yet Douehi who was one of our best yestrday seems to be this weeks whipping boy...

I think I started that agaisnt AD Ink and it was not my intention. He had a good game - my intent was to say that he isn't what we need going forward because of some clear indicators - not that he didn't contribute to the win. Pehaps I should have worded it better - as a 5/8th he makes a good prop was probably a bit harsh. Props don't usually have a kicking game!

Hope is good depth.
AD is servicable as a centre and good depth at 5/8th. Not in my roster going forward unless as depth cover obviously.
Taruva - different to Bula and 1 and brings a lot of energy to middle. Bula coudl learn a thing or two from him but doesn't psoess the power to play the same style of game. Taruva is definitely the cover for Bula going forward and next man up has to be Staines in for Taruva on the wing. This is a workable solution that doesn't hurt us too much.

Its a tough thing for backs to get used to when theyve spent their whole careers bludging outside of the real war thats happening on the field.

Any update about the ref at the end of the game?
Has any podcasts, footy shows, ex players etc commented on it?

Is it actually going to get brushed under the carpet?
Its interesting...i was going to start a thread on it....a very unique situation i dont think anyones seen before..
I sent a quik text on it to SEN sport to get their thoughts but havent been able to listen all morning...they never read my texts out.anyway.

All i.learned was.peter gough is gay

I can't understand negative comments about Douehi
We get so many players that come with high expectations and then gradually disappoint yet here's Douehi where my early season expectations were not that high especially as he seemed to have a groin niggle but here's a guy who lately has exceeded my expectations and is a competent center and has shown his versatility by being very creative in the halves as well
On top of being an above average goal kicker he's been either our best or one of our best the last few weeks .Two weeks in a row Benji has singled him out for praise !
What more do you want ? I know his 5th tackle kicks were not perfect but at least they were long making the chooks start sets from deep
The guy is a bloody good footballer accept it !

I thinke the origianl comments were by me - it and was not that he can't play footy.

He is up for a new contract and he isn't going to get us to the top 4 as a centre and he isn't a first choice 5/8th.

He could be a good player in a side with a good forward pack that is mid table. If you want to get to the top of the table then he isn't in the side for anything but depth. Simple as that.

Even though he played well yesterday there were clear indications of his deficiencies at the top level. If we want to be a top 4 club AD is not a starter.

Haven't caught up with the thread yet - but man, only Tigers fans can still be nervous 20-0 up and then 26-10. Even the team felt nervous.
Usually true, but in 2025 so many teams are getting mown down, I think everyone gets nervous when the opponent gets a run - 3 tries in 15-20 minutes is very possible for any side.

Lets be serious here...Latu has a body made from cobwebs and spit. He is injury prone. He is very unlikely to play a full season next year. Luai may be in SOO again also. We need a backup who can put a decent number of games together for us in the halves. Toa is also injury prone. Us having a player who can easily fill 2 positions and play as good as the guy who is out is valuable.
Im assuming Bud is not returning...Who is that going to be if not Doueihi?
This is the Da Silva situation all over again. It comes down to money and NRL game time.

If those 2 things don't balance out for Doueihi he isn't sticking around to play a substitute role for injuries/suspension/origin.

I think most agree he'd be very handy as backup, but it's whether or not he will accept that role on the money that role will offer.

Yes thats correct.
Im more speaking to those that want him gone fullstop.
He may not be offered big money. Hes worth keeping for the right price as this has been his best season for mine.

AD, damn it I wish he could play like that every game.
He is such a hot and cold player. Glad to see him turn up though.

I think the other big difference, is we saw our edge defense do it's stuff. FAR from perfect and still having issues, but we were at least moving up to cover gaps even if sometimes they wern't fully covered.

1 year ago we would have lost that game.
Seyfarth not playing as an edge forward made a big difference.

It's possible that Skelton drops out and Taylan May gets his spot, then that opens a spot for Doueihi in the centres with good backup in Skelton if Doueihi needs to switch into the halves.

Just depends what Moses will ask for, but given recent events, I reckon we have next to no chance of keeping him.

Of course, I have no idea, but I doubt Doueihi signs on with Moses if he was going to stay knowing the relationship he has with the club.

I think he's been employed to get Adam the best deal possible at any club at this stage in his career. Adam is 27 come August, so you'd think it's his last chance at a decent contract. I reckon he goes to Perth.
