Not a bad bloke, but a complete and utter club shill who never uses critical thinking and always parrots the club’s talking points.
Benji may end up a terrific coach, but he hasn’t been one so far and to state he has been is dishonest at best.

From your desperate attempts to deflect, and your reluctance to answer my question, it appears you have never coached in the NRL. The reason I asked is to understand how you can critique Marshall when you have never been an NRL coach.

By this stupid logic, you can never criticise anyone in parliament if you’ve never been a politician.

Try arguing the points for once instead of just using appeals to authority. It’s lazy and just shows you have no faith in your ability to defend your shilling.

If you read the conversation, it is not criticism of a player. I suggested that Marshall, being one of the greatest 5/8s ever to lace on a boot, would be well-placed to make a call on who plays 5/8. I don't believe that to be unreasonable.

I think most of the successful NRL coaches today were rubbish as players compared to Benji who was extraordinary.

And by and large, their knowledge of the 5/8 role, selections and associated matters have been vastly superior to Benjis.

I think you have enough to attempt to make the claim, it’s not entirely unreasonable, but it doesn’t withstand much scrutiny.

I could understand a claim that despite his whinging, Galvo did actually improve under Benji’s forensic coaching. But that’s a success in coaching not because Benji actually played.

For the progress of his own individual game, I think Galvo should have stayed.

But you can’t coach stupidity out of people.

How can you defend him? I am aware you have also not coached at NRL level.
I guess neither of us have the experience. although I have the results and numbers so that trumps your nothing.

Yea I'm wary of blaming refs... but the interpretations of ruck infringements felt really lopsided in that game. Maybe that's my own bias talking, but what was solid defending from one team was foul play for another.

Fans can have their opinions mate. Professionals are the ones that need need experience. If you're a fan / member of the club and you buy tickets and merch and show support you can absolutely think whatever you like. Right or wrong.

Come on mate where's your critical thinking?? What are some of these talking points you are describing?? Where is your evidence of dishonesty??

Benji's doing OK. He hasn't had long enough yet. Ricky Stuart and Brad Arthur both needed 4 seasons to revive the Raiders and the Eels respectively. Benji is starting with less and has tougher terrain to navigate, it's too early to tell. That 6 game streak was really bad. He won't get many more chances if that keeps happening.

What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence. Explain what tho dude? That's a huge cop out. You've explained nothing at all.

This forum is big enough for all kinds of characters, but if you're gonna chime in on most topics with vague statements and grandiose conspiracies, in this particular case, on the Coach being a 'Shill', sticking to some sort of pre-agreed 'talking points'... if you're gonna just say really vague stuff, and then not bother to actually point to anything happening in the real worldsupports that... then what you're saying is just nonsense.

This is funny. So he wasn’t an assistant doing an apprenticeship for the first year?
Does that suit the no prior experience agenda.
If he was actually our coach and Sheens was just running the water in the 23 season then he has done even better given those circumstances.
