Hal, I think perhaps you are looking for something that isn't there. Benji has definitely changed the attack strategy - it is clunky at the moment but we are deliberately playing flat and fast. It doesn't look as flashy or pretty as a deep attack with flashy block plays and plyers in motion - but it is effective. Watch Penrith on the opposition's line - they play the same way (but are better drilled). That funky retreat backwards into the line by Cleary is him setting himself to take advantage of any switch that occurs because the play hits the wall.

In defence we are still sliding, but also playing a bit of up and in. the number first up tackles that didn't stick in round 1 was a problem but the scramble and effort was there. Our ability to hold off six sets on our line yesterday was a pretty goog indication that we are heading in the right direction there too.

Overall I think our defensive strategy is more mature, but our style of play on both sides of the pill are still under development. I think the foundations have been laid and we are building.

I think the real question is will we have enough points at the end of the year to make the finals. If we do we should be well developed at the right time of the season. If not, we will need to wait until 26 to see the fruits of our labour.
My big concern is our lack of punch at the collision. Parramatta had us on the back foot early yesterday and they’re a bottom four team. Richo and Benji need to address this quickly.

The small pack is working well defensively so far but better teams will bash us up. May is enormous but lacks that ability to bend the line and get quick PTB’s.

Yeah apart from the obvious 2RF think we are missing that 115kg Jake the Muss type wrecking ball, getting on but I would take big Nelson off the storm if he was a chance.

I'm not sure about that statement. Dragons played pretty fast but ran out of steam/composure & were worn down by the Bunnies.

Brisbane played fast & dumb. Canberra just bullied them.
True, though I thought despite playing tough Canberra played pretty quick, not so much with ball but their running and defensive intensity was up there.

Their first set they got way too much post contact metres...whatsisname...our old player made about 15m extra after meeting the defense
