LIVE GAME Round 21 vs. Warriors

Live Game Discussion
What is going on with the RUCK?? Why are the warriors allowed to hold us down for AGES and yet we get penalised for NOTHING??? It’s a Deadset joke and RICHo or BENJI need to get the NRL to do something about it !!! It is the same story every damn week.. we get ruck infringement penalties against us on the last tackle like clock work and it is ruining the game for us .. it is destroying the contest and is absolutely manipulating the result against us every single dam week!! I have HAD IT !
I thought Gough was reasonable .Most weeks we have got the rough end but not last night

I think with Luai coming and Api, feeling the assistance on the field... we will some improvement.

Simply because of the experience and class that'll afford.

Still need to work out the pack and improve the backline somewhat
Sezer started the season hot, the half we've been waiting years for. Bula coming off a brilliant debut season. After 2 games, Galvin declared a superstar. Even Fataape started strong.
What happened? Everyone has regressed. Noone has improved under Benji. Klemmer has dropped right off, Papps is terrible, Bateman is worse, doesn't matter who plays in the backline they're all terrible.
We have plenty of good footballers, just need a coach.

This has it to be discussion at the club. We fall off the cliff towards the back end of the season for years. I know we are not challenging for anything other than the spoon but players levels are falling dramatically. What is the club doing because it is not just one player.

Once again it was disappointing to watch our team, but looking at that game constructively I saw a lot of the same very obvious issues that contribute to us battling to win games.
At the simplest level there’s no doubt we are outclassed in most positions as a squad - three big initials were the difference tonight - RTS, DWZ, AFB. Swap them to our team and we win the game.
At the team level however we just don’t tackle hard enough or run hard enough. We get monstered on both sides of the ball. Our intent in D is really poor- the whole game they moved up and hit us hard driving our guys back in tackles while we waited for them to come to us, then hugged and jogged alongside their ball carriers allowing them huge pcms and momentum to play off. We lose the tackle on nearly every occasion. Consequently we played a lot of the game coming out of our own end of the field.
Our first half was riddled with errors and dumb plays but we improved our intensity in the second half and started to compete. Again some poor set up play made our 5th tackle options and kicking game really struggle. Hate to say it but at this stage none of our would be halves can kick the ball well at all.
Individually, I thought Pap had some solid desire tonight that he has rarely shown. Suffered a lack of match fitness however. Seyfarth tried hard but is still prone to stupid stuff. Sam F was fair in A but his D needs work. Apart from them the rest of our pack were non existent and soft. Boys against men. Our outside backs are all reserve grade players and really are unable to make any impression in A or D. They simply lack most of the “S’s” - size, strength, skills, speed and spirit (do have “stupidity” however)!
Apart from this the team is Great!

Based on averages. Most tiny players don't make it. If they do they need time to grow and develop. And to have some exceptional traits. Throwing them into first grade before they're ready is a guaranteed way to make them fail
'Tiny'. Those players are not tiny.

None of that is what you said. You said 'highly unlikely'. Apparently now, you're basing that on size.

Sweet as. I'll pass that onto other current NRL prospects who are 'highly unlikely' to make it; Papenhuyzen, Fa'alogo, Walsh, Fuller, Api.

I don't think you understand a) the actual size of these players and b) that there are more variables to prospective success in rugby league than the number on the scale.

Oversimplified, simpleton - concocted tripe.

Stop drinking bro.

I never said that no small player will ever make it. I've said they have to have some exceptional speed and or skill to make it. At 174cm Luke is the shortest winger in the comp. Papenhuyzen is 181cm and he's small but he's super fast, Luke is not very fast or skillful. He's a Matt utai type, slightly more skillful, but the game has moved on from that era.

Faatape at 178 cm defending next to another shorty is just suicide.

Mason is a competitor but he has nowhere near the skill or speed of a Walsh or Faalogo type.

Small players with average skills struggle to make it. That's a fact backed up by decades of data. In time as their bodies fill out they can compete better, but that's still 3-4 years away, so why are they on NRL contracts when they're still so far off NRL standard
