LIVE GAME Round 21 vs. Warriors

Live Game Discussion
Its hard to put a pin on him what position he plays. Therefore he has class. Thats all I can conclude.
I was about to label him a less experienced, more talented Kurt Mann.

But Benji is trying to get him to play less structured football.

I don't think he sees the game in front of him. Probably KNOWS the game & studies hard etc. But knowing & feeling/seeing are different.

If Benji can teach him to understand what he's been taught, he's probably a great player.

I'm going against the grain here but it's not as bad as most think..

Considering the amount of possession in the first half I think the guys really put in an effort and could have easily just dropped head and gave up.

We had no one on the bench at the end part of the game and these kids just keep on trying.

Latu will only get better with time as he only 19 can defend quite well.
Samual F, Seyfarth, Porter just never give up and do a lot of the 1% no one sees..

NOW ... Once we add a few more quality forwards (replace our current pea hearted ones) and a few backs we will be a lot more competitive.

I know it's hard losing but I am convinced we will be a lot better next year with Laui running this show with Api.

Let's give Richo the off season as he knows what is needed.
There is a reason Porter is making his NRL debut at 27. He has not improved as a player, just found a club where mediocrity brings you into contention.

He is not a first grader

there is not a lot that Porter can b criticized for apart from his lack of passion for raising his knee;s

We don't have any backs on our top 30-40 that any other club would want. Even Bula would be playing NSW cup for most other clubs.
So at the end of the season we need to offload/terminate the contracts of:
Faatape
Toa
Naden
Sukkar
Staines
Lobb
Feledy
Douiehi
Porter
Matamua
Alaimalo
Klemmer
Bateman

Both Lauliliis and Mason are borderline, both still 18 months away from first grade contention, but highly unlikely to succeed.

If we can do this we have a chance of competing for the 8

Spoke to the lawyers today and they said It will be very difficult to terminate all these contracts and they advised the best way forward would be to keep them in place and have Balmain Boy as the Super Coach next year and that would get West Tigers to a GF. Problem Solved…

Galvin isn't a fullback.

I'm not convinced he's a lock, unless he's willing to play 3rd fiddle to Luai & Fainu.

I'm starting to think his future might actually be elsewhere. The ruckus about wanting to know his place in the team, wanting out etc...could be a player that knows Luai is going to be #1 and that other spot in the halves is against a player that has superior ability in Fainu.

Pre-emptive strike to secure a spot to hide the fear/concern they get overtaken within a year.

I think Galvin is a 2nd rower. But, if I'm honest- I'm not convinced he's a better option than Josh Schuster.
Whatever happened to Josh Schuster ?

Good post and I agree... I'd just add Benji cannot teach these kids anything.

He'd probably go OK coaching a team full of 5 year + NRL veterans but he's not the guy to be coaching kids debuting at 18 & 20 years of age

Once again it was disappointing to watch our team, but looking at that game constructively I saw a lot of the same very obvious issues that contribute to us battling to win games.
At the simplest level there’s no doubt we are outclassed in most positions as a squad - three big initials were the difference tonight - RTS, DWZ, AFB. Swap them to our team and we win the game.
At the team level however we just don’t tackle hard enough or run hard enough. We get monstered on both sides of the ball. Our intent in D is really poor- the whole game they moved up and hit us hard driving our guys back in tackles while we waited for them to come to us, then hugged and jogged alongside their ball carriers allowing them huge pcms and momentum to play off. We lose the tackle on nearly every occasion. Consequently we played a lot of the game coming out of our own end of the field.
Our first half was riddled with errors and dumb plays but we improved our intensity in the second half and started to compete. Again some poor set up play made our 5th tackle options and kicking game really struggle. Hate to say it but at this stage none of our would be halves can kick the ball well at all.
Individually, I thought Pap had some solid desire tonight that he has rarely shown. Suffered a lack of match fitness however. Seyfarth tried hard but is still prone to stupid stuff. Sam F was fair in A but his D needs work. Apart from them the rest of our pack were non existent and soft. Boys against men. Our outside backs are all reserve grade players and really are unable to make any impression in A or D. They simply lack most of the “S’s” - size, strength, skills, speed and spirit (do have “stupidity” however)!

I think with Luai coming and Api, feeling the assistance on the field... we will some improvement.

Simply because of the experience and class that'll afford.

Still need to work out the pack and improve the backline somewhat

His defence is excellent but he offers nothing going forward for a big body

Only backline player that belongs is Bula, just not sold if it's at fullback yet. In D he is good at reading the game but his A is atrocious, has no idea when to shift or hold the ball. He set up the try in the corner yesterday for Staines but there were another 2 - 3 times in the game if he shifts the ball we have numbers but he holds it. Maybe needs some mentoring.
