LIVE GAME Round 22 v Bulldogs

Live Game Discussion
Funny and I was just thinking….geez Snidest has gone quiet after AD has a huge game. You capable of eating some humble pie mate and paying dues where they’re worth? Or can you come up with another creative reason why he’s the worse player in the squad.
One swallow doesnt make a season ... but you fangirls love swallowing!

Luai, Api and Bula applying pressure with their turn and chase.

The pressure confused our old friend

It was one of the most satisfying moments of the game...

I was waiting for them to blow a penalty for Bula tackling Galvin without the ball.
He shat the bed and didnt want the contact!

Was only willing to take the pass in space - it was a moment of pure cowardice!

Galvins injuries are a typical Gould ploy to cover up the fact that they screwed this up bringing the kid straight into the first grade team. Not just because he is not ready to play week in week out at the level required, but also because the whole show became the galvin show and the rest of the squad are being ignored. Not a great position to be in for a bunch of guys that have gotten to the top of the comp on effort and passion. He should have played ressies for the remainder of this year and only come in for injury or rep cover. He didn't look injured at all during or after the game on the weekend so this is all manufactured to cover up Gus' weird obsession with recruiting and playing him. If I were the dogs hierarchy I would be punting Gus about now...it worked for the Panthers.

Yep. They fkd this one up... And if it is an injury then they are incredibly lucky . It might actually get their season back in track bringing sexton back in

Overseas on holidays so haven’t seen the game, still can’t believe the result.
Congratulations to Benji and his coaching staff they cop so much crap after every loss I hope they get to sit back and enjoy the result.
One last thing I can’t help but mention how Old boy Gus is seriously loosing it, he got the best junior he has ever seen to his club and sadly is not getting the results he was hoping for , and not forgetting his comments after the first state of origin game that NSW were so much more dominant that QLD aren’t in the same ballpark.
Just goes to show that time catches up with all of us.
Go the Tigers 🐅
Mate that looked like a team playing for the coach for the disrespect he got from LG.

They'll also at some stage come out with the story about this being the same injury Galvin had when he was at the Tigers that Benji forced him to play with.

360 reporting Galvin has gone for scans, picked up a hand injury yesterday. Likely to miss a few weeks.

Ouch.
We dem boys.
His left hand looked ok when he placed it over Luai's shoulder at the end of the game. Then he shook hands with his right hand. Romy must have squeezed it too hard. Or maybe a polite way of getting Sexton back into the side without losing faith.

I don't usually re-watch games but we don't often win these sort of games. Some observations...

Biggest thing was physicality of Sione, Samuela, Taylan in defense. Twal had some decent contact too. Not sure if Sione has enough lateral movement at 2nd row but he really toughened up our defensive line.

I was livid with pole at the game but I don't think he was that bad on replay. He played with great intensity. His 1st error was poor but the 2nd was just a great hit by Mann. I'm not a big fan of pole but if he played with as much intent week to week he'd be a top shelf prop.

We really did very little in attack, still lots of work to do there.

On Galvin: I still just feel he's a good wide left sided players but I'm not really seeing halfback in his play. It looked to me that he stifled their movements a fair bit and took wrong options a lot in terms of going short ball to forwards or passing out the back. I don't really get the thinking behind playing him at half.

Mann got kudos for a few under/into the ribs .Rahme says he likes doing that thing ,like to see him lift to join the tTeam next year

Why can't the Wests Tigers play with this intensity all the time.

They did it yesterday, and the only other time this season, was the last match they won, when they said they played for Benji, because he's been through a lot, WHAT ABOUT THE FANS HAVEN"T THEY BEENN THROUGH A LOT.

They are elite performers who get paid well , so next time you play, play for the fans they have been through a lot too.
We’ve gone back to the old only switched on after a loss team, it beats winning one in every 6 games but still need to find a formula to compete physically week in week out.

It's an interesting stat, I think perhaps a little overstated if we look at the draw.

By a quirk of the draw, Bulldogs haven't yet played Warriors or Storm, i.e. 2 of the current Top 4. Against the other 6 clubs they've beaten Raiders and Sharks, who are tricky opponents. Dogs then had a 2-pt loss to Panthers and a weird flogging by Dolphins. The remaining team is Broncos who have the wood on Dogs this year with 2L.

So their Top 8 form is 2W 4L. It's possible that they lose to Storm and Warriors to extend a poor record, but you can't count a result before it's happened.

Tigers form against the Top 8 is 3W 7L - over Dolphins (early season), Sharks and Dogs. So we've played Top 8 sides 4 more times than Dogs, and obviously not being a Top 8 team ourselves adds an extra opponent because the Dogs cannot play themselves. So basically we had beaten 7th and 8th before playing Bulldogs.

Dogs run home is against 4th, 9th, 2nd, 5th, 7th, which is a tough run. So I would be less concerned about Bulldogs' current form against Top 8 sides compared to their form in this run-home. I am a firm believer that end-season form is the best predictor of who will win the comp. Nearly all teams that limp into the Finals get destroyed and there's a good reason why the Top 4 is so dominant in the Finals period.

I personally don't think Dogs are that good a team and I do think that, per your stat, they make their season banking wins against lower sides. I think they are maxxing out their performances with an average roster, but with a few key elite players like Kikau and Crichton. I rate Preston and Kiraz very highly. Burton can be good. Rest of their side quite meh.

2024 Bulldogs were certainly undone rapidly in the Finals. I think Dogs are getting a little worse week on week, say compared to the Panthers, and I think it bodes poorly for their Finals aspirations.

Penrith had there injuries early and looking like all out of the way now

That 19 centre Penrith have I have a man crush on him he could be anything if he trains hard

Big strong fast like the physical stuff smart could be anything another Herbie my other man crush

It's his long-term criticism - he's good at getting himself on the front foot but not so good at bringing other players forward.
