LIVE GAME Round 22 v Eels

Live Game Discussion
LMAO Coach Adel really tried to defend Bula in this game.

Absolute clown
Its like he must also be managed by Isaac Moses the simping is that bad. Who is this D grade coach, looks like a hobbo, definitely knows nothing about footy.

They also said Api had a great game. Conveniently left out the 2 or 3 shoulder charge penalties, 1 leading directly to the game winning try.

Worst game this year. So disappointed in our attack once more. Bula has regressed. Where were the short balls onto a flying Samuela? So many mistakes and bad decisions when in attacking range. This game was so winnable like a few others this year but we just lack class and competency. Couldn’t even do it for Api. Just so frustrating to watch and unlikely to change for the rest of the year. Dreading the games against Panthers and Roosters. Might be best to check out first.
Api couldn't even do it for Api. Poor game by his standards. Penalised for a useless shoulder charge when we were leading with 5 minutes to go. They scored and won.

You’re smarter than that (hopefully)

I didn’t say it was a strong squad
- i said it was stronger than anything we’ve rolled out in 10 years.

And it is!
Possibly.

With the outs we've had this season, there's been some pretty garbage players filling holes.

Anyway, I'm not defending Benji. I have a soft spot for him, and have always wanted him to work out. But from day one I've had majory doubts, as have many.

I do rate him as a man manager, just wish he had proper coaches around him and not his mates. I'm sick and tired of the 05 crew hanging around.

The sooner Luai goes the better this team will be...he is a good player surrounded by great players at the Riff...here he has kids and fringe first graders and can't earn his 1.2 mill.
He probably is a nice guy, just doesn't compliment this team...
Benji really needs to recruit players that will better this team,it's just a shame we had injuries at a crucial period this season..
I disagree. I see nothing in the rest of this mob to suggest they'll be better in 2027 without Luai. Not that he's been great.

I predict we will only win one of our remaining games and it will be the absolute upset of the season.

Against who?

That I'm not prepared to pick at this point.

It was a terrible game today, but they weren't revolving doors for the opposition attackers like they have been and were in with a chance right up to the end, something sadly lacking of late.

Sure a better team would have put a few more points on us, but they did play better today, mainly defence wise than has been the case of late.

The main problem I see is in attack. A lack of flair, poor predictable options but most importantly speed or lack there of to be more urgent matters the coaches need to address.

We were in their 20 plenty of times, 2 tries bombed on Turuva's unmarked wing due to bad passes.

The slow play the balls, slow passing, lack of depth in the backline when in possession, lack of speed out wide, slow out of the ruck.
Our opposition burns our outside backs every game.
The Eels bombed at least 3 tries with bad handling after burning our defence with pure speed.
Geez, Seyfarth looked faster than some of our backs when he scooped up the ball and crossed the line for his no try but he showed more urgency than any of his team mates, even saving a certain try against us.

You can't teach pure speed unfortunately. Our recruiting seems to fail with that and have done for years. Our fastest player hardly gets the ball in attack.
We will gain a player with speed when Avarillo comes next year & Tiny is quick when he gets clean air, but we need some genuine speedsters if we are to get anywhere near another premiership .
Sadly that won't be the case for next year at least.

Taking that into account, the coaches need to come up with a defensive plan to counter those short commings. Our attack, which hummed the first 9 rounds has fallen into a rut and can't seem to capitalise when try scoring opportunities pop up.

How do you rectify those issues with the roster we'll have next year & our current crop of juniors?
I don't think we can especially if we have another horror season of injuries unless we buy NRL standard speedsters.

He was gassed and took the easy option- just turned his body and braced. I am concerned with API’s play. Been pretty ordinary. Can’t question his effort but we have worked him to death and are paying the price. His passing is below standard and is missing tackles. His contract will age poorly over the next two seasons imo.
Api's service from dummy half isn't what it used to be.
Too often he takes a step one way then heads the other, he's not quick enough to get away with that anymore.
All he is doing is giving the opposition defence more time to move up and smother the play.
His passing is slow & increasingly inaccurate.
He needs to play less minutes with a decent utility or rake to give him longer breaks. Brailey will fill that void next year & will probably get to start a few games himself if Api gets injured or suspended.

By the way was Api put on report for his shoulder charge today,? If so he'll be sidelined for a week or two.

That Seyfarth play sums him up. He knows he’s knocked it on, yet he runs like Forrest Bloody gump to get to the try line. Get tackled 5 out mate. We score next play.

Footy IQ nil.

None of the runners run lines or into space or even change direction before they get the ball and the “ball players “ do not dummy or jink or hold the ball up or anything to put any doubt in the defence . It’s so stale and slow and Bula needs to start getting the ball close to the advantage line and coming straight and not freaking sideways as he never burns a defender and arms to be unable to step anyone or break a tackle right now.. I really have no explanation for it

Looked like AD was setting up our right side and Luai our left side but there was no plan to get to a point on the field. We’d stumble our way to the middle and then Api would pick a side. Left side we never created numbers. Right side AD would rifle a Hail Mary long ball at (not to) Turuva. No evidence of our halves connecting or working to a plan to isolate defenders. Grubber when you’re out of ideas. Dogs breakfast probably the best way to describe it.

The best thing is - after Madge’s pay out, Sheens pay out - then Benjis payout…
HBG will be looking to spend about 45k a year on our next coach.

Pat Richards should demand a better wage. Laffranchi welfare officer/head of? .All roads lead too hbg ,open the purse strings

Absolute criminal our use of Samuela in attack especially in the red zone or should I say lack of use.

Benji, you need to change things up in attack in the last 4 weeks. I will pull my hair out if we time & again use the SO PREDICTABLE Bula sweep on the right and use Terrell May as a slow as a barge link player. Just stop it!

Just run shape to hit either our backrowers or centres, all of whom can bust tackles.
