LIVE GAME Round 22 v Eels

Live Game Discussion
What to think about that game….
The quality of the football played tells it all pretty much. As disappointed as I am to watch us lose another game that we should have won, realistically I go back to the basic truths.
We have a very average squad of players across the park before we even start. Add the injuries we’ve had and now we’re playing guys who are nowhere near the standard required. Our better players are not playing their individual best either or are carrying injuries affecting their play.
Looking closer, our outside backs are by far the worst as a group in the comp. Guys like Herbert, Mak, Tupou, Tavana, Skelton, Toa etc are not likely getting a run in any other NRL team. We dont have a halfback at all.
Then take an honest look at our pack. May is running metres (no longer consistently) but at snails pace and soft as a teddy, Pole is just not consistent enough and we have no other go forward at all. Relying on Sione or Sukkar or Seyfarth on the edges for most of the year has killed our attack and defence. We are dominated every week in the middle.
Really there isn’t any part of our team or play that competes with most other teams so that is going to come out in the performances over the length of the season, which is exactly what has happened.
I honestly think that they are trying most of the time but sadly as individuals, and as a group, are simply not good enough players.

To give up tickets to a Tigers game and go fishing is an indication that @mtd#2 is a very intelligent man, consider myself to have half a brain but I was dumb enough to watch that rubbish yesterday.
Well, RHS I said I could not stand to watch the game or listen to it. I kept my word. Late last night I heard the score. In my head and typical Tiger fashion I worked out the score would have been 12 all and we kicked a field a field goal to take the lead. Then I felt we would let them in for a try with a few minutes to go as we usually do just before half time and full time. Sounds like that's the way it went.
I can now watch the replay without the stress and see how they lifted for API's special occasion.

needs to have it then, ive been a big bula apologist but he is giving us nothind himng atm
Bula is taking the bombs OK and saved a couple of tries against the Eels.
But his attack is so predictable and defensible. Bula's attack is not threatening to anyone.
Needs to run straighten the attack and set up others around him. Not crabbing to the sideline until there's nowhere for the wingers to run except cut back in and get tackled.
Where is our attacking coach? When will the penny drop?

My wish is we replace the attacking and defensive coaches externally from the club and coach Latu @ 7 and Andrews/Doueihi to fight it out for the 6 in the Off Season.
But I see Benji sticking with Doueihi. That's why we need the fresh external coaches to mentor Benji. He needs to listen to other reasonings, take it onboard.
And get some muscle/speed for the pack.

Hmm, I should have listened yesterday, you did tell me so.

Spot on. No argument from me.
Need some urgent upgrades on our current troops.

Just watched the replay. All that game did was convince me that Doueihi is a second rower or lock. 16 minutes into second half he once again ignored an overlap and kicked in goal on the second tackle. It would be interesting to know how many line breaks we have had since he came back from injury.

They played like they'd been on the drink all week in the first half- lack of finish in the second half cost them the game.
Dreadfully disappointing is the mildest summation I can use to describe the last six weeks.

No doubt mate, he should shut up and do what Benji says, be very surprised if he doesn't play a lot of lock next season.

Watched it agan too. I agree with you. Just angry on 2 things in particular …

Our halves hardly ever use or harness our backrowers. Criminal!

Bula (yes his fend is currently hampered) is so pedestrian as a sweeper, does not back up up the middle & has hardly any change-up pace / acceleration to break the line.
