On the Channel 9 commentary they said that that was what was going to happen (penalty and on report) until they realised that Sivo was bleeding (suggesting it did connect and drew blood). I've got no problem with him being binned if he did actually draw blood - he had no business head butting in the first place, it was a ridiculous thing to do...

I didn't think they made decisions based on the injury to the fouled player.... Really bad refereeing considering replays showed Siva spitting out saliva not blood... Reactive refereeing.
Was hoping that twerp Atkins copped an accidental whack when JJ & Brown started swinging ?

I wasn't watching that closely I'm just going off what I heard the commentators say. I don't have a problem with making a decision based on injury if the injury is used to determine whether a blow struck or not. Ma'u got no punishment for taking a swing at Klemmer last week because he didn't connect. It wouldn't have been the same if he'd clipped him on the jaw. Of course the referees should probably get it right and make sure there actually is blood if they're going to rely on it....
