Entertaining game of footy. I reckon Wighton rarely threw a pass that wasn't forward.
Api and Brooks both great - shame that those days are numbered, and reckon Laurie showed enough to ask the question why now?

But that one is on our fans who wanted to constantly blame him instead of the sub standard teams we had around him over the years. The barrage of abuse from our fans had become so toxic, it was better for him to go.

Yes agree with this , I wish he did get a chance to play 5/8 beside a DCE or Cronk but multiple coaches said he was a seven including Sheens , he is a 6 and should have been told to play eyes up footy , coaches killed him , natural solid 7 and Brooks would have been good , plus it’s only now we have a decent pack , last heap of years it’s been very basic to poor

I think money and contract length were an issue with Brooks , we never went near the amount manly offer or 4 years , Sheens and Benji did not get their way , Board made the call

When if ever did he have forward packs who ran hard, tackled hard and won the physical battle ?
When if ever did he have two big, fast, mobile, athletic edge back rowers that would regularly run onto the ball hard and worry the opposition ?
When if ever did he have a lightning quick, playmaking fullback who would chime into the backline, create overlaps and create attacking or try scoring opportunities?
When if ever did he have outside backs that were fast enough, aggressive enough of good enough to hold their own in defence and be good enough to worry the opposition every time they received the ball ?

The coaches deserve most of the blame for trying to turn him into a halfback when clearly he's not .If they had let him play 6 maybe the last 10 years would have been different

Mate he has got the best manager in the business for getting his clients what they want.
If Brooks wanted to stay he would be here.

Without knowing, I doubt Brooks told all these dopey coaches of ours that he must play 7.
Anyway I think we have a good one in Latu Fainu, but if we are being fair dinkum it could take him 2 years to get to the level where Luke Brooks is now,
We don’t have 2 years to wait and if we don’t drastically improve the playing roster around him, it’s every chance Fainu or whoever they bring in will have the same issues in trying to win games as what Brooks went through.

Have a look at latest highlights in nsw cup I think he will be up to it next year but at 6 not 7 we still need a 7 hopefully the St George bloke will be up to it

And the clubs position was his manager didnt come back to them after they upped the offer closer to what he wanted and they believed was agreed to. Two sides to every negotiation.

I think this line of thinking is completely wrong. I think he is clearly a half and it makes no difference if you give him the 6 or 7. Did you ever see Steve Mortimer or Wally Lewis play ?

Not while Anusley is in charge it won't,lower rated teams will always get the short end of the stick.He just makes excuses/reasons why these thing happen and little long term action if any

Steve Mortimer was a runner and a 7 and Wally was an organizer and a 6. I think the idea of this organizing halfback is completely meaningless.

The question is are they good players or not.
