Round 24 *Live* Discussion

Terrible decision from the bunker,it may be the right decision technically but it just shows the refereeing ranks dont understand the game

Wow a Manly fan got arrested for allegedly trying to job Chambers when he was sin binned. Crazy. What a poor, poor effort if true.

Just saw it on fox, bloke would be lucky to be a half wit.

Taking off my black and gold glasses:

Parra defence was terrible. The misses on Boyd's run in the 1st half were appalling.

Klein was OK, it was the linesman who ruled on the Fergo no-try. I actually thought Parra got the rub of the green

Forget blockers for the FG, Parra had them pinned on their own 40 with 1 tackle left. Their poor defence cost them the game.

Moses was terrible. Just handing off unders all game like he didn't want to get his shirt dirty. Missed a couple of goals which would have won the game.

Fifita is head and shoulders the best young forward in the game.

Mate I can cop all you say. I agree - parra had enough opportunity to win and the game was won due to some individual brilliance. All good.
BUT
A dud call before half time led to a dud penalty giving broncos 2 undeserved points
Then a dud call robbed parra of a try - 4 points, maybe 6.
SO
Yet again, crucial calls (mistakes) went Brisbane’s way helping them incredibly get to a point where they win.

Now I could stomach this if it ever went the other way. It doesn’t. Ever. So why not? Why do we see year after year this bloody favoured team sneak into the eight on the back of 50/50 calls or worse. If it was law of averages surely they would fall at some stage. This never happens.
Why?
Because TV is not real. All reality shows are manufactured to maximise viewership. This practice happens in NRL but to a far lesser degree. TV broadcasters pay ridiculous money to broadcast the game. They want maximum viewership. Take Brisbane out of the 8 and a huge Queensland market turns their tv’s off. Broadcasters can not afford for this to happen and as a result - well see my above theory.
Agree or disagree, I don’t care. But if you can show me where I’m wrong and show me the instances where Broncos were knocked out of contention because of a dud call, I’ll be happy to admit I’m wrong.

Baloney and pure selection bias. There is absolutely no way that refs are intentionally influencing the outcome of games or going into matches with pre-conceived ideas about who'd they'd prefer to win. If that was the case, it would eventually be exposed and the whole competition would collapse in on itself.

You are just cherry-picking certain moments that appear to support a pre-conceived idea you have.

Your last paragraph - "show me where I am wrong" - actually, the burden on you is to prove your theory correct, because you are the one who proposed the theory. You've got 2 instances of perceived bias, which is a very weak sample size.

Now if you had many many matches over many seasons, either attributed to all refs or specific refs, then perhaps you'd have a case. But you don't, you just get all riled up when Broncos get a penalty. Forget that Broncos had a played sin-binned by Klein, forget that Parra had several opportunities to win it independently of ref's decisions, forget that Moses missed two crucial conversions, forget that Klein went upstairs for the Fergo try as "try", forget that the refs ruled Kane Evans did not promote the football. Those latter decisions were correct IMO, but for a conspiracy, they could have easily just made Evans' attempt as a no-try, worn the criticism and Broncos guaranteed win.

For a match apparently being managed with prejudice by the governing body, towards a preferred outcome, they certainly didn't do much to stop Parra's late comeback.

I don’t think it’s baloney and I believe I’ve seen enough over the past few years to prove it. Mate as I’ve said before this forum is a bit of fun for me so I won’t be presenting a thesis to prove my theory. I’m just throwing out there what I believe and a logical and believable theory (in my eyes) for others to consider. You don’t agree - no worries. I wish I didn’t believe this - it would make my NRL experience more enjoyable. I look forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with you and others as we watch the Broncos celebrate another exceptional run into the finals - again!

Panthers officially out.

They had tons of ball in opp 10 again tonight and never looked like scoring (Kikau power try all they produced, like most weeks) Very poorly coached, they have no variation at all.

All bias aside...with that pack and Origin halves, Cleary coached very poorly.

Was out tonight. Listening to Griffin on the radio talking about panthers lack of punch in attack. He must be grinning like a Cheshire Cat. I know I am😀

Not just saying this as it is Cleary.......................but they are terribly coached. They have a great pack and have had more ball in the opp 20 than ANY team all year, but barely ever looked liked scoring. Absolutely no variation, no set plays, nothing...

Yet despite not having all that advantage, his halfback of last year took out the Dally M, whilst the pretender son played origin.

Meanwhile Ivan is left gazing at his ticket in disbelief as the realization slowly dawns that he might have gotten on the wrong bus.

@851 they're depth players looked good when coming into NRL. The 9 looked good not sure how long Friend is planning to play for. They will probably punt him soon.

Verrills is a manly junior(Avalon) but does not come from one of the "favoured" clubs it could explain why he is at rorters
