I can't believe people actually think someone would do that on purpose, yes even a lunatic like Napa.

I can't believe people think he wouldn't. Players do stupid things on the football field every game - especially 'lunatics'. We'll have to agree to disagree.

I guess we will, but you're also disagreeing with Joey and the King who have a lot more Footy knowledge than you or me, and I'm willing to bet that you're also disagreeing with the majority of current players coaches and commentators.

In my eyes he was trying to put on a big shot and it went wrong.
Did he have intent to belt McCulloch as hard as he could?
Absolutely!!
Did he intend to drive his head into his face possibly causing severe head trauma to himself or McCulloch?
Don't think so

**It's obvious some just have it in for Napa and especially the Roosters,** I don't particularly like either of them either but I'm not going to let that influence what I think.
I couldn't care less if Napa got 10 weeks but I'd be outraged if it happened to a Tigers player because it was an accident.

Bingo. Opinions like this are always skewed if you hate the player or his club to start off with. The funny thing about last night though, is because it was two clubs who most hate equally, they do not know which conspiracy best suits the narrative.

Lol. Someones opinion of a foul play is a 'conspiracy' to suit a 'narrative'. I think your over thinking things a tad.

Of course it can be. It’s like anything in the game. A knock on, forward pass etc. Opinions a lot of the time are defined by what side of the fence you are on.

It would be in the Rorters best interest if he was suspended for the rest of the season.

They would be hoping - the guy is a dill.

Even a biased opinion isn't a conspiracy. Is an opinion.

When you claim certain clubs have refs in their pockets and the NRL have sides they want to be in the 8, that isn’t an opinion. It’s a conspiracy theory.

I thought you were talking about opinions on the Napa tackle.
I must have got lost somewhere.

1-2 weeks, if that, for this one. Bryce Gibbs on the other hand would of got 12 weeks for tonight's one. **It is always handy to play for an NRL-favoured club when it comes to judiciary matters.**

You're welcome

That's not what you quoted first time around. If you did it would have made sense.

That’s a fair result. It was careless - he’s hit him in the head when going for a big hit.

I disagree - he went in leading with his head for the second time this year. Broke one guy's jaw earlier and I'd be surprised if it isn't another broken jaw tonight. He is deliberately leading with his head - no doubt about it - and no amount of defence from Gus will change his intent.

Absolutely gutless.

Just saw it. Agree 100%. It is an unnatural way to tackle the way his head is so far in front of his arms in terms of timing- his intent must be to contact first with the head then wrap the arms in an attempt to make the tackle look legit. Napa has been very fortunate that he plays with an "untouchable" club, he would have spent a shedload of time on the sidelines otherwise, have is a serial cheap-shot merchant.
If he irons out Cammy with a dog shot like that it is worth applause most certainly. Other than that IMO he should probably be rubbed out for the rest of the season for that hit tonight.

If his intent is to contact first with the head why don't we see him hitting more people with his head?
Are you saying that a split second before he made this tackle he just decided that for some reason this tackle he's going to use his head instead?

Once again if you've played you should understand how easy it is for someone to get on your wrong side (turn a right shoulder tackle into a left one) once you've set your feet for a right shoulder and balanced yourself all it takes is the player to jink late and your head ends up across the front of you in the wrong spot, we see this happen to players going low all the time and they cop a hip etc,
are you saying that they're also deliberately using their head?

The only difference is what his head connected with, it's a collision sport where two body's are moving and coming together and the attacker is trying to avoid the defender, awkward collisions are going to happen especially when you're planting your feet and driving with your legs as Napa does, If you remember Sonny Bill used to do the same and not always connect where he was aiming either.
Napa needs to adjust his technique or timing he himself is going to come off second best one day if he doesn't, if someone sees it coming and has time to turn he could cop the point of the shoulder to the head and lights out for him.
No footballer is intentionally trying to drive their head into blokes faces, unless them themselves want to end their own season.

I can't believe people actually think someone would do that on purpose, yes even a lunatic like Napa.

As someone has mentioned before, check out Nate Myles' headfirst charge into Robbie Farah from SOO a few years ago as a clear-cut example of a bloke using his head as a weapon. Or Richard Villasanti on Fittler in the 2002 GF. Almost everybody was up in arms over the Villasanti one, with many saying it was deliberate and worthy of a send-off. I'm sure Joey would of been one of them because it was his buddy Freddie. What would of happened to Napa if that was an NRL golden-boy on the end of that one last night? The opinions would of been more vehemiantly against him if it was IMO. Look at Sia Soliola on Slater last year, Slater slips into the tackle, gets collected high but does all the damage when his whiny melon smacks the ground. An accident. Yet "experts" in the NRL inner-circle made it out like Soliola had walloped the goose with a tomahawk….overreaction to the extreme.
It depends who the victim of such tackles are when it comes to opinion on the illegality of the hit in many cases.
Napa is a slow learner, a significant suspension would encourage him to work on his tackling technique if it was in fact "accidental". There have been 2 glaring cases of these sort of tackles knocking blokes unconscious/breaking jaws this season and both have been by Napa.
There is plenty of spare room for rent in Napa's skull for certain, he cannot continue to get off such indiscretions scot-free or he will never learn.
Save one up for Cammy though Dyl! A flying head torpedo special :brick:

Don't think Napa set out to wreck the bloke, but he does have a high risk technique which sees him contact the head of the opponent. Long suspensions for repeat offenders will see them work on flawed techniques.

So far every commentator barring Joey and Gus have condemned it. Anasta and Voss was horrified and I understand Freddy has criticised it this morning.
Even Darius Boyd was against him. A poll this morning on TripleM was 63% he should have been sent off. It was the topic of conversation at Football this morning and not one person thought he was innocent. Opinions varied from 2 to 8 weeks regarding penalty.

When this many people see it as deliberate there's got to be something in it. Even Trent Robinson didn't defend him. I actually believe the coaching staff have a lot to answer for. It will be hard to argue a defence of poor technique when they've had 12 weeks to work on it. They'd be arguing their own incompetence.

If he had been given a reasonable suspension for his first offence earlier this year maybe the roosters would have worked on his technique. The judiciary ignored it and sure enough it happened again,i am sure if he played for most clubs he would have been suspended the first time

Valentine Holmes might be the difference this year.

The Sharps are favourites for the title IMO. They can bash teams and grind ugly to win 6-4 or turn on the afterburners and rack up a big score. They intimidate nearly every team they play with their physicality. They will give it a massive shake.
Chalk one up for the 'roiders of this world
