Anything that slows down Koula, Hopoate and Saab will benefit us.Ground will probably still chop up a bit by our game on Sunday even with fine weather tomorrow & Saturday. Hopefully that advantages us.

Agree 💯 B2T.The NRL are clearly hoping this will become an annual event.
In the years ahead it could well develop into something great.
If they can tap into even a fraction of the vibe that encases the Koori Knockout - it will be a win.
Into the future, I can see people coming from the bush to the city to be a part of a giant cultural celebration.
I think it has merit.
As Connor Watson says 👇
Too much focus on who is out. What matters is who is in.
Hb61, I hear you, and I reckon part of the confusion around events like the Gadhu Gathering comes down to how the word "woke" gets thrown around these days.Mate, these days they just make it up as we go along.
Pretty woke if you ask me, like our PM laying down with Hamas.
I understand where you are coming from..maybe...indigenous round and the all stars concept doesn't seem to have the same vibe after many years trying, so I don't expect this will take off either. There's no substance to it.
The Koori Knockout gets far more traction so the NRL is obviously missing the mark. Again, my view is because it's manufactured and commercialised, whereas the KK is organic and has roots dating back to 1971 and doesn't cost 100 bucks a ticket to get in To one match. It's 40 bucks for 4 days or 15 bucks a day with multiple rivalries and winner takes all competition. There's something to play for and bragging rights associated to each tribe.
Having a few matches and calling it Gadigal Gathering doesn't do anything to inspire the same vibe as the KK. It's no different to any other weekend of football. What is indigenous about this weekend other than the marketing name? can't see how this event means anything other than the lip service promotion the players have to give in interviews.
Really regarding the No vote ? What gives you that opinion ?Agree 💯 B2T.
Our Indigenous people have been given a bloody rough trot by a huge degree since Capt. J. Cook landed in Botany Bay.
And Imo the No Vote in the referendum added salt to their wounds.
Please read my post correctly. My issue is it means we lose a home ground advantage at Leichhardt. If you want to start having bloody festivals and celebrations about your race or sexuality or gender or whatever other thing then go ahead, but we shouldn't lose a home game over it.I understand where you are coming from..
Here is another perspective.. my niece and nephew (7 and 10) who's parents weren't born in Australia, asked this week what indigenous round is about etc.. they wouldn't have the awareness about things like the KK etc...
The mainstream/commercial angle creates discussions that maybe don't happen if there isn't an indigenous round. Its by no means perfect.. the ticket prices are a joke (I still can't believe it's $100 for a premium ticket on Sunday) and the jerseys are a rort... They could improve it for sure..
Food for thought.

Are you open to sharing what your cutlural background is so I have some context?Secondly, what conversation is being had? Yes darling indigenous round is about celebrating indigenous people. Why mummy? Errr...ahhh....just to celebrate them. Wtf seriously...this is so dumb
Overall our 1st. Nation people who's land we stole and who we tried to exterminate want and must have a lot more recognition Imo.Really regarding the No vote ? What gives you that opinion ?

Thanks for your comments, with which I have no dispute, other than my belief that the indigenous “noise” for want of a better word has not abated despite the majority of Australians having their say. My personal view - overkill - where a minority group gets excessive air time whilst many majority issues seem ignored. I live in Melbourne and our left wing Premier, despite the state being knee deep in debt, has announced they have already spent $357m on a treaty outline with Aboriginal leaders being paid up to $380k a year for their input. This is a classic case of simply ignoring the referendum and widening the Labor manifesto. And of course with Comrade Albo in charge he won’t go near it.Hb61, I hear you, and I reckon part of the confusion around events like the Gadhu Gathering comes down to how the word "woke" gets thrown around these days.
Originally, woke meant being alert to injustice, especially racial injustice.
It was a call to awareness, not a political slogan.
Overtime, it's been stretched, mocked, and politicised to the point where it now gets used as a catch-all insult for anything that feels unfamiliar, progressive or symbolic.
Not every cultural initiative is woke in the pejorative sense.
Some are just attempts [imperfect for sure] to give visibility to communities that haven't had much of it. And You don't have to agree with every execution or feel moved by every jersey design.
But calling it woke might miss the mark.
For some players and fans, these moments carry real meaning.
And if the NRL can build something that feels organic and inclusive over time, maybe it'll earn it's place.
As for your comment about the PM and Hamas, I'd tread carefully there.
Supporting the Palestinian people's right to live in peace doesn't mean they support Hamas.
In fact, many Palestinians are caught between a rock and a hard place, Ie...they want freedom and dignity just like you and me, but they are ruled by a regime that punishes dissent and hides behind civilians.
Some have even begun protesting against Hamas, despite the risks.
So yes, we can oppose terrorism and still stand up for the ordinary people who just want to live without fear.
And that's not woke, it's human.
And just like in RL, where we try to build something inclusive without losing our identity, maybe the challenge is to hold space for both tradition and progress.
What, all 3.8% of them who already get $5.3billion funding per annum. You’re playing a guilt card that won’t win the hand ! At least in my mind, and obviously, 60% of the population !Agree 💯 B2T.

Indigenous round was last week...I agree about home ground, we do need every advantage we can get.
In relation to the round, If parents aren't educated enough to then teach their own children on why there is a specific round to celebrate indigenous / islander culture & history, then its partly a problem with NRL messaging, partly a problem with the messaging from fox/9 and then lack of education.
Gadigal gathering? Please educate meNo....thats ignorant
Theres plenty of info re this if you want to educate yourself
This is a home ground discussion pal. Take your politics elsewhereOverall our 1st. Nation people who's land we stole and who we tried to exterminate want and must have a lot more recognition Imo.
And I'll never understand how prominent Aboriginal people like ?Mundine
could vote no in the referendum.
No I'm not because it doesn't make a difference. Argue the pointbon its merits, not my background.Agreed
