LIVE GAME Round 24 vs. Rabbitohs

Live Game Discussion
Never ceases to amaze me how many people on this forum just have no idea when someone is taking the piss. 🤣

You would think that one of the prerequisite for supporting the Wests Tigers would be to have some sort of a sense of humour.

I'll quote Rex Mossop once again and say that I'm flabbergasted that there are people on this forum that would take something like this seriously.
Yep... Suuurrre

You know, looking at our team there is a fundamental problem with the physical attributes of the players that make up our team.

I would have to call on @happy_tiger to back me up here because some time ago he wrote about the difficulties of passing to players of different heights.

At the time @happy_tiger's claims were met with derision, but after a full season of 100 passes at training every day you would no doubt have to agree that nothing has improved and even the most sceptical amongst us would finally have to agree that @happy_tiger was definitely onto something here.

To highlight how this is a problem at Wests Tigers I have done a bit of research on the heights of our player and have looked at our tallest regular NRL players vs our shortest regular NRL players and found the following:

David Klemmer - height 199cm or 6"6'

Api Koroisau - height 172cm or 5"8'

This is a height variation of some 27cm from the shortest to the tallest, this is almost a foot in the old measurement for those who have not fully come to grips with the metric system, little wonder that passes are not finding their targets.

I would propose that we take a good look at our recruitment process and aim for much more consistency in the height of our players in future and set a bench mark of player height at 185.5cm or 6"1' give or take 2.5cm or 1" in future, this being the median height of the above mentioned players.

Incidentally, while carrying out my research I also stumbled onto the fact that around 185cm or 6"1' is the average height of players in the NRL, further reinforcing my belief that this would resolve many of our ball handling issues in the future.
OMG
How have Penrith won 3 comps in a row ?
Lucky no one out there has heard of this theory,
Who do we get rid of our tall guys or those that are not so tall ? 😂

He had a good first half but was invisible in the second when we needed to consolidate our good run with the refs, good completion rate and good field position. Bit disappointed with his second 40.
You got to be happy .Wests Tigers for the round
No send offs
No sin bins
No charges
No fines
No suspensions
And we won the bloody game !
Well done MRC and a shout out to Belinda Sharpe !

From the ground my take was that we got super conservative from a game management perspective and decided we would just ruck it up and kick to corners after we went up by 14.

Big problem was our defence became overly passive and Souths nearly pulled our pants down. Yards were flowing easily.

I’d blame coaching over Galvin for the conservative game plan and the defense was probably down to inexperience. Api was doing his best to lift them when he was out there.

Some of our 'Issues' are older than me.....

I've seen us try to defend narrow leads miserably for far too long, Only for it to end in misery....
Much like our Tries just before or after half time - You can rely on them more often than not.

Would be awesome if the club could ever admit that we just can't defend
- Never have been able to.
And any game we lead where we throwing football at them - We're more than likely to lose.

After watching the replay I think it reinforces how getting an equal share of the calls can impact on the outcome of the game.
In the game against Manly last year she let one of the worst forward passes go against us that led to a try this time she had the courage to rule.

What's a bigger worry than whether our teenage star Galvin is the full product yet
Benji basically said he wanted to give him a rest but has no viable options !
In other words he considers Sullivan and Latu not quite up to it
So we have $1mill pa tied up in those 2 .
Seems to me that both Samuela and Sione are clearly 1st grade standard I am yet to see Latu do anything of note and it seems that while Bud has had a couple of match winning games in NSW cup he's flopped at NRL level.

Yeah particularly when the Souths big boys were causing our little men trouble, I think we went too conservative too early. Leading by 14 is a fairly new experience for this group in fairness.

Got away with it just 😁

Not many clubs can own their position on the back of good defence this season. Plenty of wins this year even for strong teams
has been on the back of outscoring the opposition with big scores, not about good D. The game is so fast for players and referees and a few decisions that go against you - teams can't rely on their defence to stop the momentum of the team who benefits of extended time with ball in hand.

Wait till the finals when the whistles go in back pockets and the 18-14 score lines return.

Yeah, just when I thought attack was the best defence and we were going on with it, we spend the second 40 working out how to lose. But we didn’t but shit it was close.
It’s hard to know where to start in assessing us. I’m worried we are going to get buried on Thursday night. Only stat I like is we have won the past 4 v Manly at LO.

They’ll have too much fire power unless they have a really off night. They’re strong where we are weak, the backline.

Hank, please forward this to Roy & HG.
I believe this is an issue they could discuss & find a solution for.

Doueihi’s try was off a 2 meter forward pass.

Our passing is atrocious. Everyone needs to practice passing from dummy half and just in general. So many passes that are too high and behind the team mate, even when they're not under any pressure. Our attack struggles so much due to lack of time due to posters racing behind them for the fall bloody ball. Basic skills that all players should have
These are fundamentals that better teams do well
Not sure what we practice all week..touch footy?
