LIVE GAME Round 3 versus Souths

Live Game Discussion
Yeah ok, that’s where we disagree then.
We HAVE to win games like that where we are the dominant team.
You can’t blame that loss on the halves being injured. It was them playing so poorly that was the problem.
The rookie wasn’t marking Latrell, he was on Wighton and yes he copped a bath. I don’t know why we aren’t using him as a winger, where he killed it in the trials. He hasn’t shown a thing a centre so far.
Yes the effort was there, mostly, but that was a weirdly prepared side that ran out there tonight and they took on a poor opponent and didn’t have a clue how to beat them.
I’m not disagreeing mate. But we aren’t a
top 8 team, we have been terrible for so
Long.. take it as it comes that all I’m saying. We are better. That’s all I care about… no overnight success like everyone wants. It’s just better. Not perfect but better as the midlife stockman says.
Makka was thrown into veterans because it had to be done. The kid is 18. Our other centre was a rugby player.. don’t get me wrong, I’m not making excuses, but up against latrell and the highest point scorer, plus fafita? They did a great job factoring in that our halves let us down.. they tried hard and it was close… I’m happy with the effort.

We lost - so what - the world will keep spinning and us lucky 1's will wake up tomorrow

I/we would be able to say "so what" if our forwards hadn't pretty well dominated theirs despite basically wasting KPP, yet they still failed to capitalise. Only scoring two tries on the back of all that field position, both coming in a few minute period on the back of Sione and Royce efforts.

Souths had quite a few things go their way tonight which ultimately got them home. Some of Humphrey’s kicks were ordinary but ended up very well for them.

Latu is very good at playing straight and at pace. If he can get fit and stay fit he might find himself at half before long. The way he plays could really open it up for our outside backs.

Most teams do …

Centers have been an issue here for like 10 years with this team … and still look like they are going to be caught short there again this year with their best squad in ages …

BM might need to take another look at Xerri… better to have one extra than one short
Blocking Makasini's pathway sounds like a great way of retaining him.

Souths regularly beat us in the tight ones. Was never confident about this game and can't remember a game that we have ever won at Gosford. It's the injuries that are more concerning than the loss.

I haven’t been impressed at all with Javon the first two games of Reserve Grade (especially the first game). And a left edge defence of Javon, Maka and Luke L will keep me up at night
Big body halves player. Why sign him if we’re not going to use him when needed? Good luck to him if he gets an opportunity.

Thought Mak and LL were solid enough after a rough start.

The forwards dominated tonight, but th outside backs offered nothing unfortunately.. our fullback seems incapable of making a line break or breaking a tackle or even drawing and passing at the moment.. they did that stupid block play and ran it at wighton all night ,, he ate it up as he is a brilliant defensive centre that has seen that block play out the back for 15 years.. he just jammed in on the recidver and the annoying part is we refused to adapt… tonight was incredibley frustrating as the pack were all over the souths pack and they were really let down imo

I’m more worried about the ARU than Xerri when it comes to retaining Maka.,

Maka is 18 and the offseason strategy was for him to play this season on the wing wasn’t it ? I don’t think there will be any question Maka will be a better Center than Xerri come 2027 …just hope he hasn’t signed a contract to play with Union which he can if he chooses come November this year
