LIVE GAME Round 4 v Warriors

Live Game Discussion
Contact sport is fraught with accidents you can't prevent them and if you want to enforce rules that speed up the game and cause fatigue then you can't expect that the players will not make errors when faced with split second decisions.
We can all say what he should have done to not make contact with the head while examining a replay but in real time in that moment in that situation not much he did wrong or could have realistically changed to prevent it. Re Seyfarth
Luai careless has to cop it.

I have no doubt that Webster has looked at our “exceptional defence” figured out we were hitting around and above the ball and instructed his back 5 to run their carries into the line with a little dip into the defence.
No player will purposefully let themselves get hit in the head knowing what we all know about the trauma it causes down the line.

He didn't say he got hit on purpose .He said it was an accident !
His lying on the ground ,grabbing his face was on purpose and he won the game .

Dont hit him in the head. Its perfectly simple.
Did you actually watch the tackle
Seyfarth was the stationary one
Also note one reason we lost is we got belted and out muscelled by bigger guys
Yet Warriors have zero judiciary charges this year ( very nice to grow the game in NZ)

Mate he hit him in the head with his shoulder. That’s been outlawed for many years now. It was only a penalty as there was no force.
Luai’s one was the strange decision. A couple of years ago that was a straight send off. Didn’t even get binned….that was a BS call from the bunker.
Very few sin bins for high shots in 2025. Seems the refs made a decision to go conservative and just put them on report which the league has now reacted to. Back to last years circus where it’s a complete lottery.

Luai is rightly having a rest this weekend. I think Seyfarth could argue and win, especialy given the statement from CNK: “I went to brace for impact and he’s quite tall so I braced exactly where his shoulder was." That to me sounds like a decison made by the attacker and not the defender. sS there was no intent, he did not lead with the shoulder and CNK has admitted that he braced for impact against his shoulder I think there's a chance. If it was a week off I wouldn't take the gamble but for $500 I would give it a shot. It would set a precedent if it got up that could help us (and others) down the track.
Yeah that quote from NK struck a chord with me too...it seemed strange, what fullbacks run straight at forwards for a start, was it a settler play?
I think they may have been setting up for a field goal, he wanted to drop quick and get a quick ptb
I wouldve fought it....chance at clearing seyfarths rap sheet or 500? Meh
Just going off memory havent looked at it again

Irrespective, he still connected with his head.
Its sacrosanct.

They are about to go ballistic because headshots are still occurring

It’s a catch 22. You have to stop the offload in today’s game so you can’t tackle low. Players are so big and fast so there will always be accidental head contact. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.

I think using ‘on report’ unless it’s reckless and dangerous makes the most sense. Leave sanctions for when the dust settles.

Knee-jerk reaction which will have unpredicted consequences.

To be honest, I dont mind the offloads. It opens the game up. Think the 90's when somtimes it took 12 tackles to shut a play down. Electricfying.
The ball and all wrap up tackles have ruined the spectacle a bit and introduced far more danger to the ball runner.
I agree that what will happen this weekend is going to be knee jerk nonsense. Weve had 14 sinbins in 2 trials + 4 rounds. We could end up getting 10+ this weekend alone.

I’ve watched most games this year and I dont think there’s been many sin bins for high shots. I also haven’t seen any real bad broken jaws or shocking looking concussions. NAS hitting his own bloke probably the worst. The reckless stuff is what you’re trying to avoid.

Accidentally hitting a bloke high when it wouldn’t bruise a grape should not result in a sin bin. I just hope it doesn’t go silly again.

Coaches won’t get on board with low tackles / allowing offloads as their jobs on the line.

I agree fundamentally however thats the way professional sports are heading. As we understand more about CTE and its effects, the worse it will get.
