LIVE GAME Round 4 vs Warriors

Live Game Discussion
Madden had a decent game, Doueihi had a massive bounceback game.

Luai is #6 if he is fit.

I don't think you can crown Madden the #7 after one decent performance. And the middle forwards match up too well to start moving them around.

The only place you shift Doueihi at this point is to centre. But I'm of the belief you just don't shift him at all. Let him play #7. Madden is a solid depth piece that finally makes us feel less horrified if someone has the sniffles.
Obviously he doesn't taken either of their spots based on one performance. But if he plays like that every week until Luai is back, it's going to be very very hard to leave him out of the 13.

Ok I watched the game twice and I can’t believe everyone has madden in the team every week , yes he my have directed the team around, but he costed us two tries , his defence on the line is poor , maybe be better coming on in a short effort, but for me he is not a full time starter
I was his first game of the year, in any grade. Bloke had no footy coming into last night. He's got another level.

Just watched the replay. Doueihi came back from a shocker last week( I reckon he was injured early on against Souths) to be our best player against the Wahs. I can’t see Benji changing halves combination when Luai recovers from injury . Luai was one of our best against Cowboys , and his step on Cleary in the trials is hard to forget! Luai won’t be on the bench , that’s for sure.
Latu has silky skills and will be given his chance by Benji as season rolls on, his slick passing and speed are obvious.
Couldn’t fault any of our players from last night, Twal and AD our best. Royce Hunt much fitter this year making an impact , the bloke has bounced back.

And champion @BirchgroveTiger, watching a replay after a WIN is awesome!!
And if it's from New Zealand, against a team in form, and against a foe we haven't beaten in yonks, and with a team of players who are just about still on "L" plates, and ....... well you know what I mean.
Did I say awesome ........

Latu and Madden playing 7 and 14
Luai at 6
AD at 13
Twal starting at prop with Pole to bench

Winger selection tough too once May and Toa are fit:
Turuva
Tavana
Maka
LL
Skelton
All doing a good job on the wing. Competition for spots is a good thing and will help us during a long season.
Agree with this. Twal to prop to replace Pole. Douhie to have a roving instruction.

Very interesting minutes played last night

Api 80 minutes

Seyfart only 13 minutes he has not cracked 20 minutes this year yet

And Terrell May only 50 minutes last year 70 minutes a game he could easily eat up Seyfart minutes

Not sure if it means anything but both Alex and AD had their futures sorted pre-season signing term deals.
Maybe that has given them confidence to go and perform?
I’ve said it a couple of times about Doueihi, but the same goes for the Alex of Twal. Usually once a player signs a long term contract, they relax, lose their edge. These two look like they are playing for extensions.

Surely rather than saying Jock’s now the 6, can’t we just agree that the squad as a whole is looking better and playing with heart and grit. It’s a massive achievement from benji considering the state things have been in under a host of more experienced coaches. Whether it’s jahrome, dooi, jock or Latu it’s awesome to have options… obviously the first choice combination is going to be jahrome and dooi if fully fit but good not to get flogged when someone goes down!

If there’s room for improvement, it’s gotta be our wingers. Laulilii might have it long term, but not right now. Plus, he’s leaving. Hands as bad, if not worse than Tupou and Kepaoa. As much as Skelton doesn’t put lead in my pencil, I’d rather have him there.
Hands like feet against Souths but definitely stepped up with good carries last night

Even this is primarily just because our centres are injured so our wingers are playing centre.

That was an inspired performance by the team. Douihei and Twal deserve credit that was inspired play by both. Massive upset and the scoreline flattered the Warriors.

Great to see Latu get in there and mix it up with a very good Warriors pack and get his shoulders involved, didnt miss a beat. Great the young guy is back and fingers crossed he can finally start getting consistant game time. Im assuming Madden and Douhi in the halves next week. But man does Benji have a headache once Luai is back. Lovely headache to have but if Madden keeps playing the way he has from the trials he will go along way to maybe being the buy of the season. He looks to have come on in leaps and bounds from his time in Brisbane. Really, really impressive.
