LIVE GAME Round 5 General Discussions *Spoilers*

Live Game Discussion
Lol channel nine reporting a serious homophobic slur is being investigated in the NZ v NQ game. Controversy..
The problem exists that in Australian sports we have been sledging each other for donkey's years.
Everyday people in all walks of life in oz and nz call each other names, like referring to anotomy, sometimes in friendly gests, go to a pub and you'll hear a lot of banter.
Nowadays we are being introduced to people with varying agendas and for some, the habit of sledging is hard to break.
I'm not supporting homophobic type sledging, but it's going to continue for a while yet because IMO these sort of things are a generational issue and can only be irradiated through education and tollerence.
Having said that, if your on the end of a subtle dig from someone, give it back, lighten up.
We have a gay mate who plays regularly in our Saturday golf group and we sledge each other and sometimes it brutal. 🤣 He always wins the sledge and the respect from us, great mates.

Just a thought . . . . . if the NRLW players that will soon have a trans team-mate sledge him/her (like nearly all team mates and opponents do) , is it classed as a homophobic slur ?

Sledge, Slur?
Are they any different to the meaning of the word Insult?

Of course it is not acceptable in any workplace or any place.

Unless you're a very close friend of that person, Then it would up to the individual to make a choice and choose how to respond to the insults whether they are transmen, woman, or men it makes no difference at all.
