LIVE GAME Round 6 v Knights

Live Game Discussion
No idea.

What I will say- Tigers, Knights & Titans have come out in 2026 as totally new versions of themselves.

This style of play is very, very different in it's mentality. 2026 Tigers enjoy defending- you can see it with their enthusiasm.
I asked ChatGPT. Apparently it was 4 wins and a draw in 2000.

Agree, defence is the biggest difference. We’ve had this in patches of a couple of games before but never this consistently.

All the boys looked good today. Though twal, Terrell and bula looked great. Herbert is great depth he looked amazing against the knights left centre.
We are only going to get better with tiny may comming back, moving young makka out to the wing is going to be great for the kid and the team as a whole.
Wonder if Adam will need to spend some time in the centres when Jerome returns due to not being able to kick the ball cause of his hamstring/groin injury.

There were parts of the game today when the Knights were going sideways in attack.

I've watched the Tigers hang off in defence in those situations for a while- waiting for the attacking player to engage the line.

Today- I saw KPP practically hurdle a player to get to a Knights ball carrier off an offload. The Tigers defenders swarm to the ball carrier now & initiate the contact.

Also it is nice that Benji now will say if he isn’t happy about aspects of the game etc. In past seasons it was all oh it is what it is, happy with the effort blah blah after they got flogged. I found that so frustrating. New improved Coach Benji looks to mean business & I am all for that.
I think part of it was our fanbase underestimated how much of a rebuild the squad actually needed. I mean in Benjis first year as coach he had at least 10 players on top 30 deals who’d had played like 5 or less NRL games. Him & Richo have done a great job of rebuilding the team & signing players to suit the way we wanna play and with that the standards & expectations internally have obviously risen. Early days but things are looking promising !!!

I love Benji and how he has such high standards. I love how strong he is in the post game press conference about standards.

HOWEVER he really doesn’t need to be rude when a journalist asks a reasonable question.

Behavioural standards are also standards.

He’s still a legend, but a lot of young people watch those conferences and have way too many terrible role models in leadership these days.

Good win, top of the table, well done Tigers but we should have got 50 and they shouldn’t have got 20.
Couple of observations -
Makasini murdered a couple of tries but assume that’s cuz he’s a winger and not a centre. Needs a stern one on one from Benji.
Skeltons (Sigsworth moment) showed a lack of discipline for the game and the moment. Needs a stern one on one from Benji.
Our team next week if Luai back ? Can’t really change the forward set up so Twal stays at 13. Douehi to centre and Madden stays at 7.
Makasini to wing and Herbert / Douehi centres, Herbert to mark
I was highly critical of the Benji appointment. I can’t believe it. Very happy to be wrong. A big shout out to the assistant coaches as well
So far so good, Benji summed it up so well in the presser “ the season is a marathon, not a sprint”, remember that people.

In my humble opinion Madden is the best 7 we've had in years..runs direct takes the line on,lets players know when they got it wrong and positions himself well in defence, handy goal kicker.has to stay at 7. Bungee can work the rest out around him
Im really torn. I know Luai is on the big dollars but Douhi and Madden are carving them up. Im just worried Luai comes back and our attack becomes pedantic and rudderless again. Atm in my mind i cant justify moving either Douhi or Madden. I know Luai will step right back into the squad but hes going to be in all sorts of pressure to perform. 2 bad games and the media will start hammering him.

I was laughed at for suggesting Luai could be our 14 haha I was half joking and half serious.

Listen to Benji's press conference & his response around Doueihi.

Why is he doing well? Work in the off season, focus on one position, belief in his ability- that's why they resigned him.

You really think Benji is going to change that to fit the reserve #7 in?

Doueihi to 7, Luai to 6.

Today was AD’s most complete performance that I’ve seen. Ran and passed at the right times.

After today, I think Jock will need to bide his time on the bench, until another opportunity arises.

Good time to support WT.

He is blunt, no doubt. However I don't mind it. Reporters ask some ridiculous questions, frame questions to get the answer they want, don't run the final version of their story past the team whether it is good or bad, and have stuck the boot into us for most of the past 26 years.
