Agree with all your comments. Disagree with this line only.
Because Luai had a terrific record when Cleary was out. And he was a match-winner in origin.

Anyway, I think people here are just being reactionary in calling for Luai to be shuffled around for Douehi/Madden.
We lost by one point to the premiers.

Sure, Luai hasn’t set the world on fire since he’s been here, but IMO that’s more to do with the fact that he started here with the idea that he was going to be halfback, which is not his game. He’s a 6 who plays best off a genuine halfback, not as the primary organiser.

And we’ve all seen what he is capable of with a proper 7. Multiple premierships. Big game performer. Proven at the highest level.

So, while I’d move Madden back into 7, I can’t buy into arguments that three wins automatically makes Douehi the better long term halves partner.

It’s like Brisbane winning a few games and then not bringing back a fit Walsh or Carrigan. Even suggesting it sounds ridiculous.

Give Luai and Madden a proper run. Move Douehi to centre.
If it fails, reassess.

Yer don’t see the 11 errors at the back unless u are counting the bula pass to maka as two errrors?? The push out by staggs, I don’t count as an error.
What about the errors by Arthur’s he had a heap, they just defended it better than us!

Absolutely and it's wasting all the excellent field position, hard work of the forwards and stoic defensive work.

Luai is a 5/8 and Madden a half back. Their jobs are not the same and Madden played half while Luai was out.

AD is the one that is neither, certainly not a half. People are so blind to his short comings it's ridiculous.

Luai hasn't been paired with a proper half back the whole time at the club but bleat about him being the problem.

Give Luai a proper half and you will see what he can do....

That was possibly our most frustrating game of the year and very similar to the Souths game. Like the Rabbitohs, the Broncos defended extremely well but, also, like the Souths game, we weren't able to finish off our opportunities. An ability to convert in the red zone has plagued us for 2 years and much of this has to be put on the halves. Douehi and Luai are both great, individual runners of the football on their day, but they are not able to organise and execute plays close to the try line. On top of this, neither were able to utilise an effective short kicking game which is essential when providing variety and building pressure. Hate to say, I told you so, but it was always a possibility that the team would lose cohesion when Luai came back in and, I still maintain that Madden should have been kept at 7. The team looked so much more structured and balanced. Anyway, it's only one game and there's no reason to panic. There were still lots of positives in the team's performance. To not concede a try in a whole half of football versus the Broncos was impressive and, if wasn't for Maka's unfortunate errors, we probably would have won.

What ever! We are just saying that Doubie and madden have been killing it as a combination. The problem of bringing back Luai is combinations that he has not been a part of for a while, and it showed. He should have come of the bench, we were clunky because of it! We lost the game because of it, changing two guys in the backline doesn’t help with cohesion. Doubie was great again last night, it’s just donkeys defence was strong!
 
Wasting the captain’s challenge hurt, losing that one hurt. Not going to blame the ref as we had our chances. Not sure why we didn’t at least have a shot at field goal to make it 21 all. We are hurting teams and players are going off the field which is great. Luai had a great game round 1 need more.

What ever says it all. How was AD a great half back last night. When did he straighten the attack. When did he organise and get the back line deep, when did he ball play, where was his great kicking game ???? Catching a flick pass off bula and giving it back to him is support play not being a great half back and having a great game !!!!

AD has had a proper half and he's been killing it, despite his short comings. Why change it?
All I'm saying is Jock should have started at half. AD and Luai can fight it out for the 6.

Mate, read what everyone is saying. No one is saying AD should be half. Everyone agrees Jock should be 7.
Luai played 6 last night. What did he do that was so great?

....I know... he didn't have a proper 7....

That's not what made him run around in circles.

Not having a proper half straightening the attack, setting up the back line and giving them time and space is exactly why Luai was running around in circles.... Ie he requires a proper half back to do his job.

How many rings dose Laui have with a proper half.

How many rings dose AD have at half or any other position he has ever played in.

Being a good bloke and trying doesn't make you a good half back ....
