And for the record, on face value I think Madden could be the 7 in this team. He so far has shown he plays direct, straightens the attack, and has a great kicking game. But it's easy for you and I to write him in at 7, move around the chess pieces basing it on our lounge-chair opinions. We haven't been the ones working with the players and team, had the countless individual discussions and team meetings over the past 6 months laying out the plan and attempting to gain player and squad buy-in to the overall cause.
I'm playing devil's advocate, knowing how these environments operate. Benji can't bin it all without properly giving it a go. The loss of trust among the senior players would be irrecoverable, and his leadership credentials of flipping because of a little outside chatter would take a beating.
