round two...sensible discussion..

Thats not true. Most of your posts begin with 'wtf are you talking about"? or some similar wording that is immediately confrontational.
You are a hypocritical coward who blames others for your own failings.
I’ll reply to the “wtf are you talking about “ because that’s the way I speak in real life . I say it the way I’d say it to a mate , and it’s pretty much in jest most of the time , like when a mate says crazy stuff . That’s usually why there’s a LOL before hand … because it’s not meant to be nasty . But because like I said the other day , when you’re a hammer all you see is nails , you can’t see that other than being some attack . Which it isn’t .
You’re just so angry at whatever it is you’re angry at , raging against the machine .
But like I said I’m Not doing this ! You’ve been told . Just deal with it … I’m not interesting in conversing with . Say whatever you like . Go scream at the clouds .Every day there’s someone you abuse . Good luck with your misery . Don’t reply cause you’re blocked .

I found it very interesting hearing Adam O'Brien talk after the win last nigh that the fans are sick of hearing about the clubs rebuilding all the time as all they want is to be winning games?????? who true its a pity our club never seems to worry about this.As all we get is its about developing our youth, this takes time...blah blah blah i just want to start winning games this year not 2030 and beyond.
This explains the Dylan Brown buy.

Newcastle must see him as giving them a chance at the finals in 2026 aka 'now'.

It also means when Newcastle fires him in 2 years time, the new coach has a 1m headache.

You could dissect every game in the NRL and point at opportunities missed, for a team like us that has been complete shit house for years on end we simply don’t have the resilience to not ice our opportunities. Although I will agree I was impressed with our goal line D for the first time in years

That being said, with better polish both teams could have easily scored another 2-3 tries .. yes us included. It definitely didn’t feel like a 10-8 game to me
It wasnt a great game, a lot of silly penalties and heaps of errors at crucial moments. Typical round one slop to be honest.
They did just enough to win it and come September will look back on it as a lucky win that helped them play finals. Converesly, we did not do enough to win it and likewise, we will look back on it as one that got away.

Parra have some speed we don’t seem to have and again we did buy well in our new Recruites but we never seem to buy speedy players , this game we need to be strong in defence , it could come back to bite us with a loss to the eels , if this did happen we will start to slump , we need a good solid win
I disagree. With the senior guys we have in this team this year. A loss this week will not make the team drop Their heads. They’ll continue to build and it will be ok.

Newcastle only scored 10 points with a much better team than us, I don’t think they were massively concerned apart from the drop balls

The fans frustration is that we lost. Had we have won, I can guarantee you every man and their dog would be saying “great to win the close ones… but still a lot to improve on”
The question that is unanswered is did they score 10 points because they were held to 10 points or because they squandered scoring opportunities despite minimal resistance from our defence.
The opinions on here seem to be split whilst the true answer is likely a little of both. For example the early linebreak where Luai chased back and batted down the final pass. Obviously the effort from Luai to save that try mattered however I think that was an absolute bombed try and whilst we should praise that effort the reality is more often then not first graders would execute and the try would be scores, despite Luais efforts.
Therefore my stance is that it was Knights that held themselves to 10 through poor execution in what should have been scoring plays rather than our effort areas limited their scoring. What's more the linebreaks that led to those scoring opportunities were all to familiar to last year, lazy marker defence from Twal, missed one on one from Pole, poor reads on the edges. Sure the defensive effort was improved but the actual defensive structure and execution looks much the same. Id also suggest if there is not several wins on the board early (which from what we've seen both sides of the ball thus far seems unlikely) we probably won't see those same efforts as the season progresses.
Far to early to state unequivocally that this year will be the same as the last few but the early warning signs are there.

Unfortunately how often does this happen to us Tuck they really sting kind of reminds you when we finished 9th the last 2 times.

You are the only one here screaming and abusing in this discussion.
I told you the same the other day. You just cant get past your own ego and listen.
You came on here after the game looking for a blue and attacked several people who werent saying the same things you were. You try and make out its all me but there were multiples having a crack at you. I was just the last of them and the one you latched onto. I am cool with that, as I mean what I say and dont backtrack it in a weak attempt to curry favour with strangers.

Anyway, you say we wont engage again. Fine. I bet you cant do it. Youve already responded once today after you said this LMFAO.....you lasted about 3 minutes. Use the ignore button. I used it on Merlo and Kaito last week and its been an excellent decision.

Bula has speed.

That alone will create many more opportunities, even if he is a little under done
Is he faster than Mason? I find it hard to tell how quick he actually is. There are certain players burst onto the scene like Slater, GI, Turbo and Hammer and Papenhuyzen that you can see it everytime they touch the ball. They are a threat constantly.
Bula is different. He has a swagger about him. Its a bump, fend, hip shimmy and swerve. He has an uncanny ability to relax, look at the kick chase, and quickly decide his path. Id love to see stats on how many first contact tackles stick on him. It would be low.

We need to win this weekend pure and simple. If we can’t get over a depleted Parramatta side then you have to wonder what they’ve been doing all off season. The training pictures look great, the team seems happy, fit and hyped for the season, Benji appears to be a great motivator and man manager who everyone wants to play for blah, blah. But if it can’t be produced into wins on the field, then questions would need to be asked. We have the cattle this season, I’m just not sure of Benji’s ability to coach structure into a team.

No, what I’m saying is there’s no way you can hold an nrl team to 10 points , especially as potent as that Newcastle team , without some good defensive structures in place .
But like I’ve said twice now , that game is not a North Star for us to be pointing to and saying “ that’s what we should defend like” because despite the structures working imo , like you said , we fell off 50 tackles .
But on a side note , god im sick of people on here speaking in absolutes as if they’re the Dalai Lama of nrl wisdom .
I’m right , you’re wrong , you’re an f wit because I’m the best because I played A grade in Townsville 1 year … it’s ok to have nuance and say both things can be truth at once .
You want to know why we lost that game ? It wasn’t because of shit defence , it wasn’t even because of shit attack . It was because at key times in that game we made the wrong decision and lost the moment . With either errors , erratic play , missed tackles etc .
Even the Greg marzhew try , we did all the right things defensively to cause disruption in their attack , only for guys to fail close down the space around him , covering from the inside . And because he’s a unit , he runs over his opposite number to score the winner .
We put ourselves in that position from errors in the first place .
We limit the errors out of yardage and make sure we are turning over the ball in better positions we wing that game and most games .
But that’s just my opinion , and I’m not moron , or a f wit , or a loser , or a dope because some dude from NQ, or wherever , who’s never even been to watch a game in Sydney can’t hack that someone has a differing opinion.
yes people will score tries against us.

"It was because at key times in that game we made the wrong decision and lost the moment ."
Missed tackles are not wrong decisions, but yes agreed. We did not keep the pressure on, we basically became Gassed after 60 minutes and did not put the knights to the sword.

Talent will score us tries. Sure we can have great attacking structure and give that talent the chance, but talent is knowing to take that chance and get that ball across the line. Turuva, Skelton have a tonne of tries in them and we probably have the best wing combo in the comp (havent said that in a decade).

We need to get into better positions to give those guys chances.

We do.

But it's Parra

We thud them hard, even when were not doing well.

They thud us hard. even when they are not doing well.

We need a win boys. Should be epic, Moses vs Luai.

I hope you are right but Parra always seem to come good for us , no Mosses means we should win but that speed worries me , last week it was speed that Tor through us , and we had no answer , I would love us to put 20 on them

Moses isnt playing.
We always compete with Parra at this time of the year and its our best time to cop them, depleted side or not.
That said, they are missing Moses, Gutho, Sivo...guys who always rip us to pieces. We owe them for spoonbowl. That 60 points should have been burnt into the souls of everyone who was here last year. All the new guys come from clubs who usually beat Parra, so I doubt theyll be concerned by them.

I think we'll let in 2 tries but score 5. Im going to select a 28 points to 14 victory.

No Moses we should win this.

Honestly if we don't... I give up. Yet we picked Toa in the centers, no idea why we are giving him an chance... (if anything give Staines a chance? something really wrong there?)

But we should win this.

Look at tackle breaks.

I understand where you are coming from but I don't see it that way. Api is the the key to having Luai as our half, he will hold the attention of the A and B defender long enough for Luai to execute. I don't see us playing a left and right half as such. I think both Galvin and Luai will slide into first receiver as required, or as we saw from Galvin last week that he has the energy to sweep outside of Luai as required.

Just picture Galvin sweeping around in close and Bula a little wide with Sam F running a line at the inside shoulder of opposite. Luia can step, play deep to Galvin and Bula to create and overlap or, if the defence focuses on Galvin play short to Sam F.

We have the clubs in the bag to cause some problems - it won't happen immediately but that is how I see it playing out as we mature.

I could be wrong - but that is sort of what I am picking up watching the way we are playing.
Let’s hope hey 🙏
