Royce back

I thought we would have an entirely new coaching staff. the players need a fresh feel, (taken out of their comfort zone) not familiar faces so they can feel like they have mates who they can have a laugh with. We need the players to realise they have coaches who won't take crap and if they don't listen or want to do their own thing it won't be tolerated.
I think Royce is to familiar with the players and we should have an entirely new coaching staff.

The guy who hands out the jerseys is familair to the players as well. Should WT have sacked him? All this hoo ha about assistant coaches - most keep a low profile. I wonder how many of you who are complaining about assistant coaches can remember who was West Tigers assistant coach in 2005\. Also, how many of you knew, prior to Sheens resignation, knew that Matt Parish was Manly's assistant coach. An assistant coache's main role is to carry out the orders of the head coach and not create any waves.
 
There's a couple of reasons this isn't the worst decision of all time.

Firstly- the fact that he is familiar with the players is actually of benefit. We have a new coach stepping in, late, with very little room to move in regards to roster moves at this point. Having a guy that knows strengths, weaknessess & tendancies of the squad at this point must be an advantage to Potter.

Secondly- if Tim Sheens does end up hanging around, Simmons could be 'the buffer' between Sheens & Potter, or even Sheens & the board. As much as I'm sure everyone will want it to work- this proposed marriage of 2 coaches- there will be teething trouble. Having a 'nice guy' like Simmons on hand could help ease the situation.
 
Royce is an absolute failure of a coach and I wish Potter was able to bring his own support staff.

No sorry Sheens did not resign, The West Tigers Board are also sorry that he did not resign. If he did he would have saved WT a bundle.
 
Guys! It's 'resign' (quitting) and 're-sign' (committing) that hyphen makes a BIG difference in all the forum posting!

It's probably too late at this stage for Potter to bring in his own staff for this year. I would think 2014 might see some changes not only with the playing roster but also the coaching staff in keeping with Mick's own preferences.

harsh comment from people who dont know a football from a boiled egg my memory tells me royce was around here in 2005 no complaints then was there welcome back royce he will bring some humor and much needed harmony back into this shattered squad every team needs a royce in their squad.

We ranked 9th defensively in 2005, we were crap….dont let the premiership fool you...our offense got us home that year
