OFFICIAL Royce Hunt #298

Prickly customer I agree..not easy to manage or motivate...but this is where Benjis skillset falls short
Big part of the problem..cant just recruit folks he gets along with
Were not all homogenous etc...its where Bellamy/Bennett do so well being flexible and adaptable to motivate the quirky ones
having a game plan to exploit opposition weaknesses wld also be welcome..but thats another story for another day
Maybe tomorrow?
..and have a flexible response to ADAPT to subjective referee interpretations on the day..which constantly change
Nup.."we was robbed" blah blah but I dont wish to incur a fine and keep operating as its business as usual on the day is not the solution

Even Bennett took years to become flexible. In the 90s, he had the Australian team available to him but it's when he went to Dragons/ Knights, was he able to make do with what you have.

When you don't have the cattle, you have to rely on a good system. Penrith for the last 4-5 years had both.

We are starting to have a good 13 but we don't seem to have a system. In the first 5 rounds, the highlight was our goal line D, but it was the scramble at the line, and that the teams were still trying to find their feet in defence.

You hear Bulldogs talk right now, they talk about learning their system, the way they defend etc. whereas our players talk about how good a player Benji used to be.

In saying all that, I feel Benji has been amazing in the media. He's said all the right things, done all the right things in the media and he doesn't have a single hater out there.

But in terms of guiding the team, I don't think he has a clue.

When we signed Royce from Cronulla i was told he was fat and lazy, who on the odd occasion would surprise you with his ability but they were rare and too far in between. Dare i say he would be 20kgs over a desired acceptable playing weight. Shame really because he could become a cult hero.

He was an experiment for WT that hasn't worked. No stamina to maintain the rage!
He is a liability. He needs to be dropped. His poor input does not justify his inclusion.
The opposition [coach] know he is good for a couple of runs only, so they gang tackle him. Then his defence is crap so we exploit that! That's what coaches do, its their job! Exploit weaknesses.
He has got worse since leaving Cronulla or not used correctly?
And we cannot justify him in the 17. The BAD far outweighs the GOOD; IMO.
Had hopes for him, and he,had a few good moments early in the season. Agree, he's gotten worse and his lack of fitness is unforgivable.

Was very exciting seeing him make a break last night

It's good to have the different body shapes in the prop rotation.

Royce Hunt definitely can offer something for us. As a team. Clearly that's from the bench and not as a starting prop.

I have zero problem that he plays 20-30mins as a bench impact style prop. But keep him at that role and don’t use him any other way.

Last night he was gone at 8mins. The fact he didn’t come back maybe he is playing busted.
20-30 mins of absolute savagery would be OK.

15 minutes
1 run ( off the kick off)
8 metres
whats the point?
When we are so low on troops already this bludger posts figures like this?

Why are we bothering?
Was about to say the same thing.
He has been ordinary and massive liability. Need to recruit at least 2 more forwards before end of the month if we want to play finals.
May cannot keep playing 80min something has to give. Another prop and backrower both can play decent min and have a high work rate and effort.
Harrison Hassett would be one player. I also don't mind Matt Doorey when fit.
Trey Mooney is another Prop who cannot get any game time at the Raiders who is a big body but can play decent minutes

At full strength he's a great asset coming off the bench

I think the games vs cowboys was an anomaly with 2 X sin bins and a HIA early requiring him to stretch well beyond his capability

He only played the one 15minute stint. How has that stretched him well beyond his capacity? He probably should have been subbed as soon as Luai was binned to get a more mobile defender on the field and since he was only a few minutes away from what you would imagine his planned time was but why wasn't he able to get back on the field?

It's difficult when Luai is in the sin bin. We need boots on ground. But then again - Naden could of played prop also. Hmmmm. Good point Greg
