OFFICIAL Royce Hunt #298

Am I missing something? Hunt did his job. Over 10 metres per carry, over half his metres were post contact, no missed tackles. Did the job he was asked to do while on the field. We don’t buy him for big minutes. We’ve got other players for that. We bought him for a high impact short shint to help our late first half fades, which is something we identified as an issue previously… Yes I admit he had a shocker earlier in the season but he’s not the reason we lost today.

I agree. He was going alright, until he lost focus thanks to Hudson Young. Plenty of team mates made costly errors too so he wasn't the only one.

Was looking good with his carries. The couple of penalties weren't great. I still think he has a role off the bench in our team moving forward. Big pre-season to shed a few kilos and improve the fitness a little. Should still keep that impact and damage in his runs.

Gave away two unnecessary penalties in 2nd half. Game changer!
Seyfarth would have been good for about six pages of of forum whinging.

Come on penalties were soft at best. He owned Hudson and he let him know it. We need intimidation from our players, we are to much push overs. The ref was a pelican swimming in wicky’s waters. How did the great Strange go today??? Nothing, we owned him, showed nothing except falling over the line. He’s massively overrated, he’s a tuff player but lacks high skill as a half. I am happy with the Hunt, the pelican was handing out penalties and 6 to goes to his mates in the worlds most boring city in Australia!

I also thought Hunt did his job. Everyone of his carries in the 2nd half it dented the raiders line and caused havoc. Young penalty was soft, was just because he reacted the ref had to do something

Also worth mentioning, and the commentators even brought it up, Raiders had 70% possession with 15 mins left on the clock … mind boggling we held the minor premiers out for so long

I saw nothing from the Faiders yesterday as I said if it wasn’t for the pelican and some of our dumb handling errors, we could easily have won that game. And they’re the minor premiers!

For what we are paying Hunt you expect a lot better minutes/output, i Like Hunt but he is past his prime, overweight, and no agility. Sorry but he has to go.

I’ll be surprised if he leaves ..good coin on his final deal …

Might be better off trying to encourage him to get fitter rather than trying to force him out the door ..I suspect he will be smarter than Jordan Miller …

I reckon if Hunt doesn’t do the stupid swinging arm high shot we’d be ok with how he went. He gave young a free facial, you pay big money for that, and got penalised for it which is just a BS soft as shite penalty form a ref who’s probably never had a decent facial. But the swinging arm high shot was stupid, and gave them free pass out of their end. And it’s that stupid ill disapline shite like double movements that need to be eradicated from the club.

Hunt is a 20-30 minute damaging prop. Can you risk that the game goes against you possession wise when you bring on. In the modern game I think he’s done. And I’m a fan.
Yeah, that's the problem with Hunt: Great player with the ball and momentum but if we're on the back foot you need to get him off the field immediately because his movement around the ruck is sloppy and slow. That said, he brings something our team doesn't have in really strong running but I'm just always nervous when he's on the field.

All that said, really Pole has just as much problems defensively as Hunt and is a much weaker tackler.

I would keep playing hunt on the bench. With our high fitness props we can afford the luxury. I think we need to find a way to limit Pole's minutes too though. Let him be a 30 minute hard running off the bench prop. If he's not winding up on his runs then he can sit back on the bench, he's no good to us as an endurance prop given his weak tackling. Twal is ahead of him at the moment.

Unfortunately the red mist got the better of him early in the 2nd half. We just need him to channel that aggression the right way.
Wasn’t it great to see a Tiger forward with a bit of fire ! We must be the softest group in the league, no wonder we garner no respect from opposition forwards.
Pity Skelton had to show our forwards how to pressure someone, admittedly he used the “Douehi technique”, but the effort was there.
