@Goose said:I reckon the whole defense is attitude is outdated.
I reckon it is mostly decision making and acting in unison with those around coupled with techniques to make a tackle in a manner that prevents a quick play the ball.
having a system that works that the players understand and work within under pressure is the key.
Attitude is only a small part of it these days.

What happens to that ''system'' when players are struggling, fatigues, under pressure….what happens when only ONE players doesnt cover - thru exhaustion or inexperience - and lets down the team.....what happens when the line is broken and the D is shot? what do they call on then?
You call on each other, your team mate, you not letting HIM down
What you talk of is what is initially put in play....it doesnt simply always work that way though

Attitude and effort is important if you don't have it you lose.
however it is irrelevant if your system is not effective.
I reckon attitude is the final 10 or 20% not the major factor that the old cliche indicates
@snowleopard said:defence is 80% about one word and it begins with A. The problem every team has is getting the A in defence 80% of the time. If you look back on 80% of WT crunch games the biggest single factor in winning was defence. They always turned up with the right A and won. Can you guess what A is?
@innsaneink said:I wouldnt use that game as any example Newtown, the players had only hours earlier learnt of Robbies mums passing

I think Newtown's talking about the second last game of the season when we played against the Roosters, Ink, not the earlier one where they had only just heard of Sonia's passing.
