Was Serdaris a local Jnr?
I think he was the last Magpie to play for the Kangaroos

I love this. I actually thought she might have knocked the arrogant grin off his face.

I'm not sure why, but he seemed to always have a vendetta against the Tigers and favoured the Eels.

Brookie Oval with the old grandstand - 1950
(I didn't know but they used to have pacers (trots) run around the oval back in the day ....)

Brookvale Oval (also known as Brookvale Park) did have a dedicated dirt track for pacers and trotters running around the oval.
The trotting track was a major fixture of the venue from the 1920s well into the mid-20th century, serving as a primary attraction during the annual Brookvale Show.
The harness racing and equestrian ring events drew large crowds and were among the show's biggest earners.

However, the trotting track was forced to close in 1970.
As the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles expanded their use of the ground as a permanent National Rugby League (NRL) home base, the horses' hooves were causing too much damage to the playing surface. Organizers had to give up the track to accommodate rugby league.
