Rugby World Cup Thread

Channel 7 news tonight showed people in NZ sticking pins in 'sunny bill' dolls, must be getting a bit tense over there, interviewer tried to get a few NZers to do the same but they were too smart (no fun)!!

Sure is Yoss. I wouldnt call it a knee. He more or less brushed his leg against his face.
You haven't been kneed in the face until you've played in Group 10

I'll take your word on that Fraze!

Gees I thought Wales were really hard done by in that game. I didnt think that a send off was necessary for that "spear tackle". With 14 men for the majority of the game that was a ballsy effort. Congratulations France, you've won your grand final tonight….

Yeah I believe that the better team lost tonight, even with 14 players..the final will be played tomorrow with the winner, imo certainties to win the RWC Final..however I have been wrong many times before xD

What did I say on the 2nd page of this thread regarding dangerous tackle rules?

Tonight exemplified why these rules are flawed and should be altered immediately. Warburton's red inevitably cost Wales the game, had it been 15 on 15, all signs suggested Wales would have won. The French winger who was on the receiving end of the tackle got up and played the rest of the game anyway, it was not like he was critically injured and had to been stretchered from the field.

Can somebody please tell me how these rules are credible?

I can't, warnings were given out at the beginning of the world cup regarding such tackles but what they did was stifle any flexibility, that tackle was a yellow card when all the circumstances are weighed up given the warning, the tackled player played the rest of the game seemingly unhurt, the tackler let go as soon as he realised what he had done. I don't support these tackles but surely the ref has to have some discretion to look at all of the circumstances and also be able to ask the opinion of the video ref. The welsh didn't have much chance after that and I think the player sent off was their captain as well.

Would've loved to see Wales get up. Can't stand the French,( except their cooking technic)…

Looks like today's winner should hold 'Bill' up tonight... C'mon the Wallabies!!!

It's gona be 32 here today. So I'm trying to convince the missus the plasma would look great next to the pool :sunglasses:

Laying on an airbed in the pool sipping on the boags watching the Kangaroos on the big screen then the missus cooking the BBQ so it is ready for full time, get out of the pool and eat, then get ready to watch the Wallabies, can only dream.

Dont forget guys, Casey Stoner won the Philip Island MotoGP today and became world champion again.

This is Australia day….we will win tonight as well!

I hope youre only ''trying'' so she believes she has something of a say in the scheme of things, or does your missus really wear the pants watto

Very mistake riddled game by the Wallabies thus far.

Surprisingly they are still in it. Quade Cooper having another shocker.

I agree Kaiser, unless certain rules are altered and ref's stop looking for the slightest of infringements to award penalties, it will continue to be unenjoyable to watch. Something needs to be done to promote more free-flowing, running rugby because it seems to be becoming less prominent by the day. Whether this means bringing back the ELV's or making penalty goals and drop goals less valuable, I'm not sure, but things need to change…And fast.

Despite not getting the desired outcome, you can't take anything away from NZ. Clearly the better team, far more resolute and out-enthused us in every critical aspect of the game.

On another issue, I wonder how both Australia and Wales approach the 3rd place-play-off? I hope both teams field their best teams to create some sort of interest in the contest. The 3rd place-play-off has traditionally attracted very little interest mainly due to teams fielding understrength teams and not caring about the result, hopefully this one is different.
