Rumblings out of concord

The thing is for Benji if he doesnt get $1mil here (and he won't, he would be crazy to even consider asking for it) he can easily get it elsewhere.
I'm happy to see Benji stick around under the condition he takes a reduced contract and is given a role whereby he doesnt have to take much control in the game. He is still at his best when he runs which is what I want to see him get back to.

Great to hear Potter is cracking the whip! A long time over due, no one is greater than the team or club!!!! bring on the juniors and a new culture.

+1 well said my friend. Ty for the service and premiership Benji but just like soward from saints I think a change of club will do wt and yourself a world of good.

Difference is that saints brought widdop to replace soward, who do we have to replace benji? A couple of promising school kids who have never laced on a boot in the NRL, and who may or may not have what it takes to make it? Glad the forum doesn't run the club.

To all those wishing to weild the axe, yeah Benji isn't the same player he was a couple of seasons ago, but he still sets up the majority of our tries and attacking plays. So what is our plan B?

Benji should play for another 2-3 seasons and then pick up a union offer in Japan or France and then retire from sport. After the 2 or so seasons hopefully Moses will be ready for first grade.

Aim it so our recruiting and juniors will reach peak competitiveness in 2015 or 2016 and make a real shot for the title, and hopefully send him out a winner. Having such a target will hopefully give Benji a goal to work towards and motivate him so he can produce the most possible.

For the past few seasons the team looked like they were just playing to fill up the numbers, the only time they came out of the blocks with a clear goal to win was in 2010 with Lote recruited, Ellis hitting his peak, Lawrence was playing well as was Gibbs and a few of the others. You could see the intent of the team then.

I'm hoping Potter and Mayer combination will bring some focus and a goal to win to build towards. That should help Benji.

Benji should be afforded the same timeframe that Potter is….then we see how he goes with something of Potsys creation...then we should judge....

....and extend/end contract

I'm never glad to hear of negative rumblings coming out of concord but in this case i'm not too disappointed. The fact was many of us were bemoaning the culture of WT's and rightly it needed some changing. It's fair to say we're seeing that happen before our own eyes. Benji's been rumoured to be unhappy for a while now and honestly, it's up to him to suck it up, work hard and rediscover his form. I suspect Benji's leave at Ch9 is probably partly Potter's doing too.

The fact is change takes time, isn't always easy to do or comfortable. For the health of this club though, i'm fairly confident these changes will do good and in the case of Benji, like I said, he needs to suck it up and work hard. I think so far we've seen he's willing to do so.

Benji needs to start playing well and be consistent. He wants a new contract, the ay he is going, no way. Show us you still have it and 1/2 way through 2014 we will start to talk contracts. To extend based on this form, won't be much of a rise. Think about it Benji?

At this stage I wouldn't be re-signing Marshall past his current deal. Even if he wanted a new deal and we wanted him to stay, I would only give him 1 year extensions, keeping him hungry. I don't think he is out of form, rather a bit stale, out of ideas and has lost some drive along the way. No doubt the situation at halfback has played a big part in really curtailing him.

I would love to see a player like Brooks live up to the potential. That would at least give Marshall maybe the beack end of this yr and next yr to play his traditional 5/8 role. Try and rediscover the magic. However with age 30 approaching and his speed and agility on the down I think at this stage id lbe pessimistic about him returning to near his brilliant best.

Remember his is not a form slump, more like 18th months of very mediocre performances.
