Rumour Ricky Stuart to West Tigers

Sticky said if he went back to the NRL he would only go to a club that has the cash to entice quality players and have quality players in their present roster,so why in hell would he go to the Raiders. Given a choice of the Tigers,Raiders or Eels I think he would take the Tigers. Anyway aint going to happen

wrong people have too much control imo at the club.. i have no facts to back me up here, but just seems that the executives don't have as much control as they should

I'm pretty sure the reason why Longmuir got the arse was because Sheens wasn't happy with him. Its a strange world when the coach gives the CEO the punt

Stuart has nothing to offer any team PLEASE don't let him come here

Despite what some here think we have a pretty good structure in place . We should look at developing one of our existing guys first

Whilst I think Stuart is a bit of a weirdo at times, I don't believe that he is as bad a coach as many on here are making him out to be. In only 2 years, he has taken NSW to a series decider each time and he has changed the whole culture of the team to the point that they actually really believe they will win on Wednesday night. He was also the last one to actually coach NSW to a series win in 2005\. He has also won a premiership. I know he had a couple of bad years following that at the Roosters and the Sharks, but so has Sheens for that matter - remember he got dumped from Nth Qld and probably should've been dumped here, at some stage, during 07-09 as well.

I doubt it will happen, but I think Stuart would be a breath of fresh air to this team, who are so desperately in need of some fresh air. He would strengthen our defence, which has been one of the worst aspects of our game for many years now (F/A is always a struggle regardless of the team's position on the ladder) and hopefully bring some passion and desire back into the players on a more consistent basis, as he is now doing with the NSW team. Ask any of the present NSW Origin players - they really love playing for him and don't want him to step down. I think this says something.

You don't have facts to support 99% of what you write - so don't let it hold you back now!

PS - what a load of presumptuous crap!

As for GNR re: Longmuir - he was a stop-gap "interim" CEO and was totally out of his depth! Sheens didn't sack him - the Board simply didn't consider him for the permanent role as he did not have a clue aside from his old marketing portfolio.

Performance based KPI's was a good proposition imho by Longmuir, he also resigned Benji and Robbie when they were in high demand. I am sure he had some faults but he also did some good things. Some-times change can be good, this season we have had new coaching staff join the club, but we still have the same errors and inconsitency. Things could go pear shaped if Sheens were to leave but on the other hand maybe a new motivator might get us to a new level. Gibbs has gone to a new level under a diffen't system, so i guess you have to wonder how the team would go with new game plans etc.

That was just Sticky deflecting the blame for his own woeful recruitment decisions & abject failures at Cronulla!!!

While everyone was aware that Cronulla were struggling financially - that does not mean they did not spend up to the salary cap so it was a complete furphy on Stuart's behalf!

Notable and extremely expensive failed recruits under Stuart include Anthony Tupou (who is still a thorn in the Shark's side salary-cay wise), Trent Barrett did not return to the NRL for peanuts and also Maitua went there for overs despite being unwanted at the dogs!

He spent the money the club borrowed to provide him with a team - and cried poor when his plans went awry!

That is Stuart's worst trait as a coach - he won't accept blame and always looks for excuses! That was evidenced by his reaction to the World Cup loss prompting his being the first ever Australian coach to be sacked for acute unprofessionalism and ultimately hitting the depths of poor sportsmanship!

Disagree, Gallen threatned to leave because they couldn't afford to spend the salary cap something along the lines of 500k under. We have also bought some dudds over the years and Blair could be a Toupo if he doesn't improve! Every team makes recruitment mistakes we have had our fair share as well.

You are factually incorrect!

They spent the full cap amount throughout the 2007-2010 period of Stuart's reign! That is what left them millions of dollars in debt - and it was when that debt emerged as a danger to the club's future in 2011 that Gallen demanded a guarantee from the new Chairman Damian Irvine that they would be able to accommodate a squad to the value of the cap and ensure quality recruitment was a focus!

I know this from Damian personally!!

The club NEVER lived within its means until last year - and that is why is so debt-ridden!!

Also - Stuart never had problems with the purse strings at the Roosters but somehow took them to second-last in 2006 before moving on to completely ruin another club!!!

My bad thanks for clearing that up, just shows how much the media can twist things around.

ooh harsh… care to explain further?

Stick to the topic. The personal crap that has been going on here of late is tiresome and non-productive.

This really bugs me, I no we all come on this forum to express opinions such as these but how can you honestly say the team needs a breath of fresh air? you have no affiliation with the team, you are not there everyday at training so you dont no how the team interacts and what they all think of Sheens. There has never been any signs of the players not liking Sheens, so how can you claim they are so desperate for a new coach?

You could look at it from a different angle Dermo

The coach isn't their to be liked He's their to be the coach and to make some more tough decisions

It would be nice for both to happen , because its that time again

Flip , we don't need fresh air , just some deodorant

Happy, I just feel that for someone who has no real association with the team to make such a claim on their behalf is a little silly.

Also I think everyone needs to relax a little on their judgements of team, wait untill the finish of the season and then evaluate where we are

Totally agree Dermo , the seasons not over yet and their is no reason we can't come back

But if we don't something needs to change

I'm not calling for Sheens head , but he needs to be put on notice

No one is irreplaceable

I hope Ricky Stuart just disappears after losing on Wednesday and is never heard of again.

There's a heap of anal retentives on this forum - so hopefully he'll disappear up one of their cavities sooner rather than later!!!

I'll back ink to provide ample accommodation!!!
