@2005magic Is it even a rule or is it more of a 'vibe' thing? i.e. someone playing NRL regularly is more attractive to a Super League club than someone who can't get a run in first grade?

Definatley a rule. Not sure of the reasoning but its come up before.

@gallagher Are you sure it is a rule? My understanding is that he is much more likely to secure a contract in England if he is playing first grade rather than CC.

Can't remember the player but it happened to someone a few years ago, needing to qualify.

It's 50% of games unless injured, but there are other ways to qualify. Mannah could potentially qualify as an international through games played for Lebanon.

Read on facebook that the Eels are taking Packer off our hands, I think its unlikely but we can only dream

And both the Tigers and Eels are interested in signing Waqa Blake who will get the all clear from Penrith to look elsewhere.

@clokan Hard to believe they would take Packer off us and also go for Waqa.. I would love to see us shed any sort of money

I can't see any NRL club taking Packer, McQueen, Reynolds or anyone on decent money off our books. They all know it's hurting us, and no club would help us out, they are all in direct competition with us.

Maybe if we subsidised them heavily, maybe then.

Well, Parra have been looking for another prop with no luck. And whenever a player is purported to be having trouble with their coach, there's always another coach thinking, "I can get him going again."

If true, I imagine they'll want a large financial incentive. I'll be very grateful if we can get anything for Packer before July.

Agree.
Lets face it, were gonna contribute heavily to move these guys on.

@Masterton Mate My fingers and toes are crossed for this to happen... I would not care if we even had to pay a lot of his salary as its better than paying full salary to watch from home..

It's already been said, but the coach needs to work with what he has got. He knew what he had, it's not like the roster was hidden from him before he signed on. Try to move some on, yeah great, but in the meantime, get the most out of them you can.

We are carrying a fine this year on our cap of what $300k? lol, small potatoes, we have over a reported $1.5m not playing first grade in Packer and Reynolds, At least coach is using McQueen and Mats, I mean, may as well.

@TigerTiger At least for this year, possibly some of next. Ripe crop of young forwards still coming through the junior ranks, Packer for mine was worth 600k at the time anyway!

@TIGER

Blake jas 2 good games a season.... against us.

We should wait and make our dollars count
