I was listening to Sports Sunday on 2ky this morning and they mentioned there was a rumour going around that Rusty was going to pull the pin on the Rabbits at the end of 2013\. SS said that they had spoken to Nick Papas from the Rabbits about this and he said the club would not be answering any questions today and that they will be holding a media conference tomorrow. Stay tuned….

Hollywood actor Russell Crowe will sell the South Sydney NRL club after the 2013 season.

The award-winning actor turned around the Rabbitohs after purchasing the club with Peter Holmes a Court in 2006, Nine News reports.

Crowe told Channel Nine rugby league reporter Danny Weidler that he wanted to simplify his life.

He is preparing for a divorce case with estranged wife Danielle Spencer after the couple separated last month following nine years of marriage.

South Sydney has become one of the glamour clubs under Crowe, attracting superstars like Greg Inglis and Sam Burgess.

Crowe has reportedly invested $11 million along with Holmes a Court in the club as its owner, as well as giving the Rabbitohs international exposure through his Hollywood connections.

The Rabbitohs reached the preliminary final in 2012 after notching up their first finals win in 25 years.

At some point Souths need to have a sustainable model that doesn't rely on Crowe. They seem to be roughly at that point now so it makes sense for Rusty to take a step back. He's always been pretty careful to avoid the perception that the team is his property.

Personally I think he's a bit of an assclown in real life but I have a fair bit of respect for what he's done for the Bunnies. Given where they were before he got involved and where they are now, I don't think Souths fans could complain about it.

Unless you're George Piggins, of course.

He complains about everything… Be interesting to see if he comes back on board. If I was Souths I'd tell him to stay at home...

Yeah I agree Yoss, for some reason I have never liked him but I do respect him as an actor but more importantly how he has been able to turn that club around. They are now one of the only few clubs that don't run at a loss with their sponsorship and membership covering their expenses.

Allegedly news limited will be selling ownership of the Storm in the next few years as well and they were in talks with Gerry Ryan (owner of Americain) about buying it from them.

I bet the Knights are thanking their lucky stars that they got a 20 million dollar bank guarantee (might be wrong with that figure) from Tinkler before allowing him to buy the Knights.
