To think we could of got a medical retirement for him but he declined, defied the odds and managed to get through the whole pre season and came back the first game this year.
That’s determination!

I look forward to the remake of Rudy with Packer as the main character. RUSTY!

Rusty already has a career outside of football so this announcement isn't entirely unexpected especially after the injuries he's suffered over the past season or so. I wish Russ and his family all the very best for the future.

He retired years ago and has only announced it after screwing the club for every cent he could.

How so? The club screwed itself offering him 750-800k, the same way they signed Reynolds and Mbye to inflated contracts. Yet people wanna blame the players ?‍♂️

Exactly lol.

It’s his right to stay and take whatever money he was owed. Club’s problem for not foreseeing him becoming an injury-riddled mess after one season.

Not sure how the club could've envisaged that he would be a permanent injury-case when they signed him. He was fit and playing good footy when he signed (albeit for way too much money). Win some, lose some. WT lost this one.
Wasn't he contracted for 2022 as well though?

The grub of all grubs has finally left, time for a new decade ahead for Wests Tigers! No living in the past..

He was never a cheap-shot merchant on the field though. I'd save the grub of all grubs title for Cody Walker, Latrell, Cammy, Slater for starters.

Yeah, in any case it was way too much money, one of many horrific recruitment decisions they made in that 2017-2018 off-season.

And nah, this was his last year.

The real question is “was he a worse signing than Ballin”?

And Anasta, Blair, Reynolds and maybe Mbye.

As a value for money proposition Packer and Reynolds are tier 1. I’d give the win to Packer based on his care factor and general attitude being poorer than JR.

Anasta and Blair on the next level. Anasta we should have known better. Blair produced awful numbers but did some things okay. Seemed to actually be on the park most of the time which slots him below the top two.

Mbye wasn’t awful most of the time, just bog average. If he was on 200k no problem. I’m hoping Ballin didn’t cost us too much at least. I get the feeling he , like JR, at least wanted to do well. Again, given his medical report, we should have known better.

Although the Brydens Lawyers are PERSONAL INJURY SPECIALIST, i somehow don't think Lee would be offering this new law graduate a job position anytime soon.😁.

Yeah he played good footy for the Dragons the year before he came. I was actually looking forward to having him on our team. He subsequently played like a poor man’s Corey Pearson.
