Sack the Board

I have supported been a member of this club for many many years. I am of the opinion that our current board (mostly handpicked and rubber stamped by the NRL) lack the rugby league knowledge to effectively run a major football club in the NRL. Not saying they aren't great businesspeople but looking at their CV's they did not have the knowledge or experience to pick a coach for the side.

I propose elections are called and candidates can stand and us the members that pay their hard earned dollars year after year get a chance to vote for the members on the board. The current set up isn't working, the current board is accountable to no one. If we had member voted elections every two- three years at least the board would be answerable to the members at election time.

My even more preferred method is private ownership, look at how Souths went from basket cases to regular top 4 side.

For almost 15 seasons the club had these footy types you are talking about running the club do I need to go on ! Where did all that end up.

I am not saying we need footy types running the board. I believe previously our board had doctors, lawyers and business people as well as ex footy types.

They did however get a sub committee of three former players to go through the applications and interview process and make a recommendation when appointing a coach that coach was Tim Sheens and yes he stayed far too long but his first 5 years were really good and help put in good structures. Our current coach was appointed by a board with no rugby league knowledge and a former CEO that left the club paying massive money to fringe first graders. The whole process was wrong, they appointed the wrong man and the whole club is even more of a mess. Yet despite what is going to be a woeful season coming up on the field and I imagine a great reduction in members they will still keep their jobs.

Balmain and Wests for all their faults had football boards voted on by football members and if things weren't running right the members replaced the board. I can live with that and believe it should still be the case. Put it his way as a member their is not one of the current board I would vote for in an election.

Yes we did and the NRL recommend three people and they were rubber stamped for the board along with two appointed by Wests Ashfield. The three picked by the NRL were not chosen in any way shape or form on their rugby league knowledge they were chosen to look good to the media and others. I would say we are far worse off because of it.

I would say you are 1000% wrong and if your thoughts are a sign of what we would get with a vote or private ownership then I'm more committed then I have ever been to the current model

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks the apparent incompetence by WT Board and Management over many years is intended to lose supporters thus reducing opposition to a planned future relocation. :crazy

I really want to know what the current board is doing that is so great?

The board said we will be top 4 in their third year and then near the end of their first year when they know their is no way that will happen they try to make a new five year plan.

We didn't see great results on the park we came second last.

We have a coach that can't string two words together in a press conference, rings up a radio station to try and defend himself when two legends of the game (Peter Sterling and Andrew Johns) were saying his tactics are puzzling (I would say boring and ineffective).

Any player that has questioned his tactics or ability has been or trying to be shown the door (Pat Richards, Keith, Marty and Robbie).

Look at the players let go by the club that had great years for their clubs (Austin, Blair and Koro) with their contacts being underwritten by us in part.

We have a new CEO that says one week he has not had a meeting with Marty face to face and he is going nowhere next year and then he is released the next week (presumably without a face to face meeting as he is in the UK). I like the looks of the new guy but it is all spin from our club.

What is wrong with the private ownership model that turned Souths from a basket case to a well run club? I bet if we had a private owner stumping up his hard earned cash we would be far better run.

Take a chill pill SCT I've got a ticket in the $127 million dollar powerball over here in the US. If I win, your dreams might come true there

I hope you win

Just want to know why everyone is so against private ownership when they see how well Souths turned it around. Plus I could name Chelsea and Man City that were two at best mid table clubs that become powerhouses after being owned by wealthy private people. I just could not see Harry T for example running us any worse than we are currently being run. In fact I believe we would be far better run with him owning the club.

Well I've had a gutful of people saying how good of a supporter that they've been to this club then spend the next 500 words rubbishing the club.

There's the door - use it

I will have my season ticket next year and will be at games. I believe being a supporter does mean I can worry or have an opinion about they way we are being run. We are all allowed to have opinions on our club and we can disagree, doesn't mean we should exit supporting the club we love because we have a different opinion to yours.

Nice crystal ball you have there.

You are entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. Mine is as follows:

I think your a incorrect in saying….

We have a woeful season coming up in 2016.
*Less members than 2015.
*Taylor can't put two words together.
*That the Board should be sacked (We were a basket case - they are righting the ship).
*Taylor did not ring the Radio station to defend himself but setting the record straight.
*Austin, Koro and Marty were not let go for any other reason than they did not want to be there.
*Galloway,Blair plus the 3 above and others were let go to ease the salary cap as well.
*Private ownership will not be the answer - Harry would not buy (neither anyone else I would think unless they can buy 100% of the Club) because Wests Leagues do not want to sell.
*As a member you are not entitled to vote on anything - this is not a democracy, the owners have the say and as you are not an owner, you do not have a say. Just because you pay a few dollars does not entitle you to determine the future of the Wests Tigers.
*If Harry owned the club - you would not have a say either.

I think your crystal ball is very clouded indeed. You can't see the forest for the trees - that is in my opinion.

Ive also got a ticket in the big OzLotto draw tonight and if **I** win, it will be you and me in a joint venture, so we are back to square one.

The whole place is a running joke - and everyone is either laughing at us or in disbelief at our ineptitude.
God only knows what can be done to get us out of the poo.

They should at least be given a chance to finish the job they're doing before we throw them under the bus. CB summed it up best by saying if we somehow cracked the top 8, its going to make a lot of people look stupid with the way they are carrying on atm.
