Salary Cap 2013

There's no way the NRL is going to get $1billion in TV rights. They were/are aiming for $750-$800 million and the AFL was aiming for a billion. The free to air ratings for AFL far outweigh that of the NRL, seeing as they have interest in pretty much every state in Australia, while the NRL really only depends on NSW and QLD.

The article is stupid in thinking we'll get a billion for the rights, all these numbers are made up. God I HATE the telegraph when it misleads people like this.

league is made for tv perth averaged 17500 fans to a game when the wa reds were there, storm games and swans games rate the same in there respective markets(despite storm games being shown at midnight while swans games are live) we have an origin series that works aswell as nternationals. We should be looking closer to 1.5 billion.

But strangely I heard that Brisbane Lions v Gold Coast Suns rated really well everywhere including Melbourne (not that I really care ) Someone mentioned about a NRL team in WA No thanks lets establish games in our strongholds (Central Coast , Ipwsich , 2nd Brisbane Team , Central Qld ) before we even consider going to Perth Go to early and it will fail again

With increased funding, the carrot for joint ventures and relocation should be offered again to Sydney clubs with a view to rationalise the competition prior to the following television deal (ie: the deal after the 2013 deal).

It is time (again) to assess the rationale of teams allowed to stand alone who surely provide bugger all television ratings and have poor crowds. This is primarily aimed at clubs such as Cronulla, Penrith and Manly.

These clubs are riding on the sacrifices made by Wests, Balmain, St. George, Illawarra and North Sydney. 16-18 teams is probably the right number of teams for the NRL, but if Perth and Queensland are the expansion targets, we need to lose some Sydney teams.

Yes we deserve increased funding & the t.v stations & fox will want 2 extra teams in the comp, but we dont have the player to support 2 extra teams. The league will want a team from Perth in the comp because they can see new sponsors from the west coming on board, This will push the price of the fringe first graders up & up. What the league should also be looking @ is giving the home team who plays on monday night more money as a lot of fans cant get to this game on time, its called an incentive to play on a monday night.

Again , how many quality teams could be formed with the return of the players in ESL and players who have switched to rugby in the last 3-4 years .

I know we have players in england & playing rugby but a lot of these players are uder contract for a few years & some are @ the end of their careers, Ijust dont think we have the players to support two extra teams. But i could be wrong i have been wrong before.

I think what's been forgotten throughout this is the AFL have got a massive deal as well.
Our salary cap will go up, but so will theirs and so their salary cap will remain higher then ours still.
