Salary Cap Issues in the future

My idea is to stop teams even thinking about reoffending in the future .

CB do you think what has happened to the Storm has done that

Hell No

All I want to see is set rules in place so teams know exactly what will happen if it occurs again and my point if we make them extreme enough no one will even think about it

Why would making all contracts null and void be unfair making them start from scratch so we know they are definitely under the cap With what occurred how did we know for real the storm weren't still over the cap

Oh I see it is Melbourne so they are different because they are in a difficult market Maybe the Storm did this knowing that would be the NRL reaction

If it was the Broncos it would be different with your analogy CB

The cap violations that some others are talking about are level 2 breaches with can be linked to injuries etc having to bring more players through that weren't part of your initial list These breaches are quite common and completely different than what both Melbourne and Canterbury did

^ The team breaches the cap, and your punishment is to essentially kill the club.

If your mandatory punishment is to null and void all contracts, and Canberra break the cap, then they fold, simple as that. As history shows you, the death penalty doesn't stop people committing crimes, and we've come to our senses and abolished it.

The club should think of that before they commit the crime Bismark

Its not if it is a single at of madness or a crime of passion . It has to be planned extremely carefully to even think about getting away with it

Bismark its not the rules killing the club , its their bosses . Why shouldn't the club be made to rebuild from scratch. Why should you do the single worse thing you do in our game and then say "Bad ,bad bad" and then not punish them in the same way they punished the other 15 clubs

The easiest way would be for the nrl to be the employer, and the clubs pay the nrl for the players.
The nrl creates a band salary value for every player so say Benji is worth 500-550k.
The clubs cannot offer more or less than the pre determined value. The manager could chase sponsors for the player free of any restrictions, but the club would not be able to do a brisbane and pay their stars unders then gets salaries topped up with 3rd party deals.
It wouldn't matter then what sponsors pay the players because the club would not be able to employ any more players than they could afford.
