Salary Cap Room?

Are we still able to get both Lima and Tuqiri after signing Cayless today? I mean we have room under the cap but is it enough to snare both? If we can't snare both who would you choose to sign… Tuqiri or Lima

Lima for me... proven peformer and with 2 premierships under his belt is a much better player, and we have a wide range of players in the backline and the need for a 31yr old winger/fullback is not really needed. We have the juniors coming through and well it means the signings of Daniela and Brown are pointless if he signs!

Lima any day of the week, as you said he is a proven performer…....Not sure what Lote has to offer after his stint in union.

i think Cayless is better than Lima therefore i prefer Tuqiri - then Lima, of the two left.

He might be better, but Tuqiri wont offer much that our backs don't already offer. Lima will add much needed starch up front bending the line back whereas tuqiri will run the ball back a few times yeh and has lost alot of his pace.

Lote by far. He is a duel international who would absolutely tear up in the NRL given the chance again. Speed, footwork , strength and a game breaker.

X factor plus.

I cant agree or disagree with you, i havent seen Lote play league in a while. I'd be guessing. But I think Lote will bring in crowds and sponsorship and basically the big bucks. As far as im concerned Lote is an investment on and off the field. Now how many players can boast that stature. This guy is a dual international. And as far a I'm concerned i wish we never let Lima go.

- SIZE: he is over 100kgs!
- SPEED: he is fast
- EXPERIENCE: 1 NRL premiership, 99 NRL games, 6 QLD games, 5 Australia games, 76 Waratahs games, 67 Wallabies games
- CROWDS: at least 5,000 more people to the first game, who knows after that

I get your point Kul, but really he's not going to be the player he once was, but i guess we would have to see what he does before we can say that… He could have the same impact that wendell is having at the dragons fingers crossed 😛ray: But i still think Lima is essential as he will give us the necessary go foward for the likes of Marshall and Lawrence to attack the line!

While these stats are impressive, my point is that the NRL is a much tougher competition than Rugby union, even at the elite level and lote has been out of the game for quite a while.Yes he has played league at the top level, but not for a long time and he is a winger, I would prefer to bolster our forwards. As I have quoted a number of times my first preference would be to sign both, that would be awesome with the signing of Cayless. This thread asked for us to choose one over the other and that is what I did, sorry my opinion differs from yours.

Does the ignorance of this bloke have a limit????????????????????

When jase called for us to sign Mason he lost all my respect - now he is losing the respect of my descendants!!!!!

Lima is an old Tiger at the peak of his powers - Lote is an old lady suffering premature menopause!

I know which one I want on the field!

The only benefit Lote offers is off-field profile - and on that basis he is no Wendell!!

Lima & Cayless - alongside Keith - Gibbsy - Al Schirnack - Fifita - Woods etc could provide us w/ the sort of go-forward that any of our gifted backs could turn into try opportunities! We have great back-rowers & the renewed engine room could give us a genuine edge!

Lote cannot provide that for any team he may join!

Last time I checked this was A PUBLIC forum, so I'll ask for your permission before posting next time if it makes you feel better. :unamused:

Comparing Lote & Lima is like talking apples & oranges.
They are both great players offering different qualities. We are already well served in the forwards with the acquisition of Cayless, so Lote would be the icing on the cake if we manage to sign him. He is a would class player, and would bring the added benefit of playing Moltzen at halfback, a position he was going gangbusters in.
Lima is a good player sure, but if salary cap constraints start to bite, you know where my money would be going.

I have no source of info at all, but I just have a feeling Lima wont join us next year. I think all oiur eggs now are in the basket for Lote. If we dont get him, im still really excited about our lineup for next year. If we dont get him, use the $ to upgrade some others contracts.

So your saying Beau Ryan, Blake Ayshford and co offer as much as Tuquiri. Hell Tuquiri hasnt played league for a while but the concepts are the same, watch him in union and he still beats the first tackle every time, just has that knack. Hed be the first picked in our outside backs every week.

Anyone who thinks guys like Ryan are on par with Tuqiri are kidding themslves.

He will be explosive in 2010 - gee I hope we get him!

Firstly - No Personal Tirades Guys, thats for supporters of lesser clubs
*******************************************************************************************

Lote Is barely going to make a dent in the Cap for us as he will be paid via 3rd Parties. I would be supprised if a contract did eventuate that it would be greater that 1 year in length.

Benefit, apart from his proven ability is Expirience and Marketability.

Dont forget that the likes of Skando, Payten and Lote are also about helping that next gen of player to grow into the stars of the future.

Tuqiri at fullback or Lima at prop
um ill take Lima

Tuqiri is not a fb he has never played there at nrl level this is just sheens great tatics where hes obsessed with playing players where they dont normally play

Tuquri did play a string of games for the broncos at fullback when lockyer was injured. In 2008 he use to
interchange with norton-knight at fullback during the game for the tahs. A rugby winger plays more like a nrl fullback anyway. I think it's a little early to be blaming sheens when tuquri hasn't even signed. Though it could be a blunder.

I've seen lote play for west harbour and he has lost some pace and he was out played. He also had an ordinary super 14\. Hopefully if he signs he will recapture his form. Personally I'd prefer Lima as I think it balances our squad nicely. Football is about on the field results not sponsors. Winning will also get us sponsors.
