Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Jayden Berrell isn't a bad player to have in the squad. High effort players to bring in when injury hits is a good idea.

I like Lachlan Ilias as an addition as well- even just as our back-up half option. Offers experience & versatility.

We really lack 1-2 impact players (assuming Taylan May is signed into next season).

David Fifita is still the guy I want most as our #13 next season. About the only player available that can dominate on the field.

I'd still take Sloan if the money was right. At worst, he competes with Skelton for a wing position. Automatically backs up Bula. He's got that natural athletic ability along with his speed. 23, so entering his best years & already 70 games under his belt. Just has to be on the right kind of money- you don't break the bank on him.

I've already suggested Freddy Lussick, who I think would be an incredible option at #14 for us if TDS is off.

Fifita, Sloan, Lussick, Ilias... Jaiyden Hunt. You can add that prop from the Bulldogs Maiu'u for his athletic ability too.

KPP & Taylan May

Makasini comes into the mix at some point.
Problem with Sloane on the wing is the yardage. If he was a gun defender, he could be Bula mk II, but....he ain't.

Ilias isn't going to sit in reserve grade with us.

The truth is you need the Charlie Murrays and Tristan Hopes of this world to plug the reserves gaps unless you have a gun youngster coming through.

Illias, Sloan and Lussick - these guys are not even worth a discussion. Insanity.

Tristan Hope is our Jaiden Berrell.

I’d like to take everyone down memory lane to 2014 when the dogs were flying and signed a highly rated young hooker (starting for Cronulla) in Michael Liccha.
They ended up releasing Michael Ennis in the process.
Ennis went on to sign with Cronulla and play 2 more seasons with them retiring in his final year with a premiership.

Well if so, that's an absolutely unacceptable failure from the club. There is literally, not a single other club in the comp who just gives away highly sought after, under contract juniors, for nothing.
Either we leverage our position of power to fill one of the many roster spots we have, or we don't let him go.

Is this for 2026 or immediate?
You act like you are surprised. How many players have to be released before you realise that’s how this club operates. We’re cucks.

This would be a disaster for the club. Hope and Murray shouldn't be anywhere near the top 30
at 200k each it’s no worse then signing up 5-6 young players on potential who don’t develop at all. It probably allows us to spend money and space on actual first graders. They are both toilers so at least one will be working hard and hang around to provide the depth long term.

We don’t need a player in return or atleast wouldn’t want what these teams will offer

Use the spare money to extend the Fainus and focus on Haywood who also has heaps of potential

Unfortunate to lose Tallyn but it’s not like we don’t have backup plans
Spot on KC. Player swaps sound good in theory but rarely happen.

1 Needs the agreement of both clubs & both players. 2 Player has to fit the profile of the club.

It is seen as better to release the player, open up a roster spot & cap space & go to the full market.

Like the Galvin situation, the club will likely ask for $$$ as a transfer fee.

That is all.

Haywood has potential but so did Chris Faagutu, Jake Mullaney, Brenden Santi, Junior Roqica, Penie Tagive and countless others who never made it. Meanwhile, TDS has played 20 games of first grade and will most likely play a couple of hundred more unless cut short by injuries. Letting him go 18 months early without any cover for Api is utter madness.

Seems this club will be stuck in the doldrums forever; no matter whose in charge....
