SOUTHS' season is going from bad to worse, with star forward Sam Burgess to miss the rest of the year.

The Rabbitohs forward injured his ankle in the recent loss against the Bulldogs and yesterday tweeted that the damage was worse than first thought.

``Thanks for all your well wishes tweeps-opp wasn't the best, more damage than expected & needed a screw,'' Burgess said on his Twitter account.

``Will miss rest of the season-GUTTED.''

It had earlier been hoped that Burgess would spend as little as six weeks out injured.

should have signed with the tigers might have had more luck, although we are the injury capital of the world.

Dont like to see anyone getting long term injuries, especially the good guys

Souths big weapon is their forward pack, which is now all sidelined. Can't see them making the 8 this year, doesn't mean they can't beat us, but I can't see them getting much momentum at all. Crowe will have one final to his name in 6 years of ownership, and even in that game they got owned. LOL.

sutton is out too isn't he?

let's hope the boys remain switched on - i don't want a repeat of last year's loss to a 'reserve grade' soufffs!!!

x2 Love watching him play . And he would look good in Black ,white and gold . But in saying that I reckon if given the choice and they were the same bucks would take Blair instead

Ouch !!
Massive blow for them.
He's gun and I like watching him play, so that sucks.

Even their most experienced front rower that is fit to take the field is possible one tackle away from quadriplegia.

this could be a problem, for wests-tigers going into the game with expectation of an easy win. :crazy
no win is easy, still have to stick to game plan and compete.

shame for Sam Burgess to be out, no doubt who-ever steps in will do a good job, so be prepared for a tough encounter
