Just read on zero tackle Santi has a get out clause in his contract now that Stuart has left. Should we try to retain him.

Yes absolutely. We made him an offer but Parra's was bigger and offered more of a chance to make first grade.

Even if we make him a 12 month offer we should see if he is open to it.

Do we really need another lightweight forward? plenty of them. Impact runners only going forward i think.

Tries hard but no room for him.

At Parra he is a real chance of playing 1st grade from 2014, with us he is probably at least a couple of years away. Agreed it would be great to keep him but Iam not sure we can offer him the same short term opportunities as Parra

Course we should, he's not a tigers junior i dont think, so it'll probs just go to the highest bidder unless he's developed some attachment in his time here.

He tries hard, and gets through a lot of work. Will probably have an ok career at NRL level without ever being a star. But for us we already have lightweight forwards signed up for a year or two. We can't really have Fulton, Halatau and Santi in the same lineup.

He'd be behind both of them for us. A t Parra, he could even be a starter. I'd still get in touch with him again, but I don't think we'll up our offer, and regardless of who's in charge I don't see us having anything to really tempt him to stay now I think of it.

I think screw him, if his heart isnt here and he'd rather chase the dollar, let him go after it. If he wants to stay, offer him peanuts to teach him a lesson.

Hey if another company asked u to work for them doing the same thing for more money wouldn't u take it, they have to take the money cause who knows they could have a career ending injury a year or 2 down the track

It seemed more like he was offered a better chance of 1st grade at Parra compared to Tigers. And maybe more money was part of it.

Can't blame a guy for taking a chance like that, especially when you have a number of solid players infront of you at Tigers. Eels really offer a massive chance for a young guy to get game time in the NRL.

I'm the same.
If he didn't want to be part of our cause when he signed for parra then nothing would have changed.
I only want players who are 100% committed to play for us

I think he should stick with the Eels - he'll have more chance of playing first grade there and who knows, the new coach might be better for his development than Stuart anyway.

I was offered a promotion within my company a month ago at a different location. I actually turned it down even though it paid more and that was because the management team at the other location are imbeciles and are bringing our brand down. I'll eventually get my promotion but I want it at my current location where the management team is more stable.

Pretty impartial with this context then, both our managements are imbeciles.

You say he chased the dollar, but to him that would have been the bonus on top of being offered a spot in the 25man squad which we could not guarantee him.

I think the opportunity for first grade was a bigger selling point than the pay check offered

Good choice for him to go to the eels imo. He woulda weighed the pros and cons.
Pros: more money
good chance at 1st grade next year
working with ricky (i assume that's a pro for him given he had the get out clause) personally i'd rather work with potter from what i can see from the outside

Cons: Better future?

how funny u two forum warriors are u think he chased the dollars u fools . Maybe if we didn't bullshit the kid around and showed some interest in him when contract negotiations where being talked maybe we could of kept him. Tigers management and retention are to blame not the young guy. I believe he would of stayed for less money if given a chance of signing a top 25 contract.funny how a lot of ppl here were singing his praises during the year but now turn on him coz he didn't re sign. How u make me laugh u fools when u talk shit u don't have the slightest idea about what ur going on about
