SBW thinks he is special, because he has been told he was special since he was a teenager. As a result his professional actions throughout his career shows his lack concern for anyone not named SBW OMG.
Being a part of a charity is great. He still thinks he is special and not bound by the same rules as everyone else.
IMO the publics reaction and general opinion of SBW OMG is 100% spot on.
He's shown nothing but respect, gratitude and professionalism since returning to the NRL. Why does one decision he made as a kid need to affect everything he decides to pursue afterwards. People need to move on…...

I agree, he has shown those things. And I have been impressed overall with the change in him.
But there is more out there than the Footy Show segment and countless Wielder puff pieces.
Thats my sentiments in a nutshell… I have alot of respect for how he carried the spotlight this year, have even began to respect him as a sportsperson after the initial bad taste he left in the RL mouth, but I am somehow unconvinced by the sincerity of the whole gig. If he was serious about testing himself at the pinnacle of his sporting ability, I dont understand why he initially called himself out of the WC, doesnt fight better fighters (his media persona allows him to call for bigger fights, etc)
Most Sydney people know of the La Perouse snake man, John Cann, that bloke represented Aus in the Olympic decathlon, played both RL and Union at high level and was also a pro boxer, add to that his OEM and life long work with reptiles especially turtles, and environmental work... yet would never have a soul sing his praises in his presence, far too humble...
Suppose I am trying to say SBW seems too humble when the camera is on him, yes I am proud of him for what seems to be his quiet work behind the scenes with charity, truly, but he is also the same person who supports his management totally and the media circus they create, and feel he is a media puppet who only promotes when his self worth is at the fore.
Not taking away from his ability as an athlete at the highest level at all... just how he chooses to measure himself.
