If that were true (doubtful), wouldn’t they be concerned that the Fainu’s will now spit the dummy? Seems counterproductive. The WT board were absolutely sold a dummy on Fulton. In the wash up, they probably think they did well from the deal considering they had to hire Fulton to secure the Fainus.
Huh ? Doesn’t Betsy run the pathways systems , with actual scouting performed by Gallant and the people who work with him .It is the role at every other club so if it wasn’t Fulton’s, it was never going to lead to any success for the club. He was never across it to extent he needed to be.
Fulton’s reputation was built on driving around to st Pats vs Westfields games at Manly, he had little experience with NRL as Cleal did it.
Happy to see him go but if the club ( and some others) think that their NRL recruitment person only deals with the top 36, it won’t matter who they appoint, problems will arise.
Barry isn't the CEO.Keeping his mouth shut like a CEO is supposed to…
Gallant was handed retention only as part of his overall pathways role. Betsey runs the pathways, but Fulton SHOULD have been tasked with overseeing club recruitment.Huh ? Doesn’t Betsy run the pathways systems , with actual scouting performed by Gallant and the people who work with him .
I think that’s probably why Fulton was sacked . His job is redundant if he’s not running the pathways systems , as that’s what gallant does with Betsy overseeing .
Especially if the first grade team has the coach / committee . Like you said that job would involve a lot of solitaire especially at clubs where the rosters are very settled .
The only reason we hired the guy is on the advice of ray hadley and Lee and Pascoe being sold “the guru” myth . He landed the fainus and opened the door for the Sullivan signing . But especially with the latter I feel that was a signing in spite of Lee and Fulton not because of them . As if that circus re. The photos that leaked wouldn’t turn you off life . I reckon with Benji there’s no way we get Sullivan , and dare I say it , probably the fainus as well .
I’m sure the family is appreciative to Fulton , but I highly doubt they’re going to base thier career on a scout . A coach/ yep . Maybe even a ceo / chairman /owner . Eg. Crowe, Politis . But not a recruitment manager
I guess it depends what his aspirations are. He's a juniors guru, ideally he stays there and we recruit a GM Football who really knows their stuff and the two work together in tandem. But if he really wants to take that step up then maybe it would be necessary to promote him to keep him in the system. Is Betsy not a candidate to take on that role long term?
lol, he’s not as ‘in your face’ as the previous guy, that’s for sure. Just thought we would have heard from him by now? Maybe ? I realise he would have a lot on his plate, but the club has never been good at taking supporters with them on he journey to success and stardom, just thought things may have improved since the review?Keeping his mouth shut like a Chairman is supposed to…
The previous administration didn’t realise that simple fundamental, the coach needs to be able to coach a player and the players need to be coachable.Reading between the lines.
When we pulled the offer to AFB. Richo said "I will never sign a player the coach doesn't want".
It's now reported that Fulton led the negotiations with AFB.
Sounds like Fulton wanted AFB but Benji did not.
Why would there be concerns that the Fainus would spit the dummy? They’re grown men aren’t they?If that were true (doubtful), wouldn’t they be concerned that the Fainu’s will now spit the dummy? Seems counterproductive.

They won’t throw anything out as an option. They won’t release him early.Would we swap Latu Fainu to gain Jerome Luai for 2024 ?
I know I would g as I want Latu Fainu to remain playing for Wests Tigers long term, wouldn’t be surprised if Panthers throw that out as an option.

It looks like they didn’t. Reinforced by the hiring of Fulton without consulting the coaches. The previous administration didn’t realise that simple fundamental, the coach needs to be able to coach a player and the players need to be coachable.
I thought Richo’s statement was kinda correcting a wrong, righting the ship so to speak?
To earn his payout? I don’t think he would be too keen.If Betsey goes back to Pathways (he is only Interim) I get a sneaky feeling it opens the door to reestablish the original 5-year plan of Sheens-Marshall.
Is there any history with Richardson-Sheens? I think they might have done some work in England together??
If we released Latu Fainu to them from 2024 onwards, they would release Luai to us for 2024 in a heartbeat. They won’t throw anything out as an option. They won’t release him early.
No, that would be an awful decision.Would we swap Latu Fainu to gain Jerome Luai for 2024 ?
