Scrum Plays

I loved the Sheens era because of the different scrum plays we used to put on. They were brilliant to watch (when they worked).
Every scrum win this year has just been a hit up by the centre. No matter where we are on the field it's mostly Lawrence taking a hit up. I don't like it !

It's JT's way I used to love those Scrum plays aswell but every coash has there things and Sheens was scrum plays (It was also having atleast 2 back rowers and a winger on the bench)

Yeah, they were cool. Never knew what was about to take place. Apparently it's all about structure of something now. The trouble is, our opponents know that our structure is straight out of a manual which is titled "Football for dummies."

Yeah I don't get why we and teams in general don't take advantage of scrums now.. The idea is that there are less players across the field and its backs vs backs (not always the case now) where there is a lot of space. In a game where you are constantly trying to create extra space, the one time in the game that actually creates a lot of it and no one utilizes it staggers me..

I really don't see the point in our scrums at the moment.. It is always passed to the first player out who takes a hit up. Why not pass the ball out further and attempt to use the extra space to create a line break? Surely that would be more effective than a nothing hit up… Or are we just admitting to everyone that our backs are no good and can't be trusted on their own in fear of being dominated, losing possession of the ball and then gifting the opposition a try?? At least give them the opportunity of the ball in a bit of space!!

Yep, miss the variety from the scrumbase, hell I would happily take any variety at all at the moment.

I miss seeing any depth in attack at all, as you could throw a blanket over us most of the game this season. We have become the ideal TV viewing team, so much so that we may leave our seats empty on a few more occasions this year. I like to watch the "big picture" version of the game and the plays developing, rather than the ruck, so apart from the atmosphere there is very little appeal in getting to the game for mine.

When we feed the scrum, try and get the ball back…..................
Only scrum play we need :brick:

Yeah I could handle our boring style of play this year if we were actually winning games, but boring plays/structure and still losing really sucks!

I haven't forgotten Geo. That was exciting stuff. But i want to see them play like that a lot more often. That game wasn't that long ago, but it seems like forever. :frowning:

Tigermama,if we are waiting for the miraculous, exciting and expansive game to suddenly appear from our lot, then we will be waiting for awhile untill the structured play sinks into some heads..

ATM we are ….. :deadhorse:

Do not expect to see much football once again tonight, heavy track,Woods and Farah out and of course the structure.

Maybe if we get some ball in the attacking zone the kids might try some magic, but it is getting to the attacking zone will be hard work for some of our plodders on a heavy track

The more time that goes on the more I'm starting to agree with people who want origin altered so that it doesn't affect normal NRL football. Having big name players away really devalues the product imo,.

ahh those memorable scrum plays
Win scrum
Go blind
Get forced into touch
Repeat
How could we possibly do better than that

The best one was when Rowdy burnt Slater up the sideline at Leichhardt to seal a memorable win…those were the days...
