NSW State Cup player Sean Meaney has been awarded the Club Captaincy of the Balmain Tigers for season 2011.

This was announced at the Tigers AGM and supported by General Manager Paul Sironen and Head Coach Paul Fletcher.

Meaney is in his third season with the Club after playing his Junior Football at Manly Sea Eagles. Meaney has also represented NSW U/17, NSW U/19 and NSW Residents over the past 5 seasons bringing a wealth of experience to the role.

Coach Fletcher was quoted as saying, "Sean is a natural leader with his talk and competitiveness on the field. He will take the reins off Lee Bennett who recently retired"

Now all he needs is Brown to get McKinnons spot… And to take Ryans Wing!! Also adding a 2nd Kicker to the first 13

If the reports from the offseason are true then it's more Benji having to watch his number 6 jersey!

Reports?? Has Means been going OK at 6?? I saw the Trial at CT… First game I have seen him at 6, Thought he did OK behind a badly beaten pack. I'm a BIG fan of Meaney... He's quick, Tough AS!! always roaming... Great support player, And not bad with the boot!! I'd have thought he deserved the wing last year, Considering some of the efforts put in by the occupants!! Whilst his couple of NRL games were nothing to write home about, He IS a Rookie... I have seen just as many mistakes by seasoned first graders on their day... Carn Timmy, Give SM a Go!!

mate the coaching staff have been VERY impressed with him at 6\. It's not every day that you move a fullback into a position where
a) we have ample backup already
b) the current custodian is the golden boon

I'm not sure where it will go except for Meany moving to 6 for BRET. This will also help accommodate Mullaney at fullback, but regardless of that the reports are that Meany has been quite impressive at 6

Mate, He's definately a toiler with plenty of Gritt!! I loved the BRET games watching him fire up, Always first into a Barney… Deserves a shot!! He DEFINATELY shoulda had Ryan/Fitzy wing last year... With a few more games behind him he will be explosive!!
