Shane Richardson

you blokes just won't give it a friggin rest. There's been no further crap coming out of Ashfield. We've made some retention signings. We've looked amazing in our first 2 games. There's been absolute zero unrest in the playing group. Yet you still have to have your dig.
Dementia Don ? is that the prez ? I thought the dementia bloke was old man Biden ? Now THERE is incompetence.
And, once again, let you not forget that those "cretins" were the kind and benevolent folks that paid out the debts of an actual 100% guaranteed verified poorly run club. Balmain, just in case you didn't work it out.
Let's all stand and show our respects.

Imagine someone stole your car.
You know who it was.
You know where they live.
But you can't do anything about it.
The burglar and their friends decide to rub it in your face, telling you to stop over reacting, spinning narratives on why your car deserved to be stolen.
Then 3 months later when its still touchy because you are without your car, the burglar says you should move on because he hasnt stolen anything from you in the last 3 months..

HBG stole more than a car.. they stole our hope of a better future. We might push through it, we might have some success, but we traded Shane warned for Stuart McGill. Its unforgivable.

You will hear about this for years to come, so I suggest you come to terms with it, champ.

He was very quick to leave, wasn’t he ? That indicates something to me ie there was more to potentially come out if he had stayed around ?
If this was the case, why were the directors sacked and not Richo? It makes absolutely no sense. If they had something on Richo, we'd know about it. Yet they are paying out 2 years of Richos contract - they wouldnt do this if he had done something wrong.

Alot of CEOs that get punted for doing things wrong often receive generous payouts.

The reality is the setup was a bad marriage from the outset and was never going to work long term - Richo knew that from the beginning, when he joined he didn’t have multi year confidence. Add to this how hard he pushed on several agreements to occur in his contract / protection clauses (he boasted about it at the time), how he forced the board and decision structures to change as a condition of him joining & he also had zero issues putting clauses into Luai & others contracts (he slipped on that during his interview - by saying which one).

I really like Richo and think we needed him badly, I wanted here abit longer to really set our football operations up but at the same time I’m a realist and doubted he would’ve lasted his full term based on his protection actions anyway.

The other aspect is HBG had to save face with how they handled things. Image not paying Richo out and having him provide total media access to his story unfiltered without an NDA etc even if he did something wrong. There is in no universe they win that battle regardless of many biased views of what occurred. I actually think HBG were very swift and smart in how they handled that aspect.

Richo's a walkin' talkin' rugby league encyclopedia - maybe a one of a kind executive; as he admits, he much prefers his own company.
Loved his stories told with such awareness and respect for the past, from the bottom up.
Even his Greg Inglis story was modest and to the guts of everything.
And he's a "figures" man, so that would not always sit well with others.
If I had any criticism, I felt the interviewer was very nervous in asking direct questions.
Still, so happy that Richo was with us at the time he was.
Wonder what he's doing in his 3 months till he finishes contractually with us.
And then it's over to the WT admin - upwards and onwards

Except for the part where he mentioned Shaun needed training in the football side of things.
Well I could say Richo also needed some training on the football side of things.
C’mon @cochise surely you are smart enough to work out that Benji and Gallant make all the recruitment and retention decisions and simply just run them past SM to make sure he’s ok with them.
The other interesting comment from Richo was that he was against paying too much to our pathways players to keep them. I can certainly see where he is coming from, but it’s totally different to many who have tried blaming HBG for this.

Richo has won premierships and now he needs training? Who else here has the runs on the board he has?
Benji has no experience balancing a salary cap and Gallant has no experience in senior recruitment. With Shaun also not experienced in the football side of things it’s the blind leading the blind.

My biggest issue with Shaun at the helm is his lack of rugby league knowledge & skill. Player managers is a beast in itself. Business, commercial and supporters wise he has it. Who he surrounds himself with over the coming months to replace his old role will be key for him. There is alot to like with Shaun as CEO.

In hindsight, it seems he made a bit of a meal in relation to the Galvin affair, well someone did.

Especially when you consider what's going on with Lomax.

We should of screwed Galvin and the Dogs much harder.

The board leaked the Richo digital media company accusation to the media to try and win the PR battle because everyone was clowning them for tossing half the board and being a laughing stock once again. Didn’t help them too much because nothing came from it and people still think they’re a basket case. Also makes them look even more ridiculous now because our media content has fallen off the cliff so it was obviously worth whatever they were paying for it.

Regardless if we really wanted to keep Galvin or not, he totally stuffed up that negotiation and lost an elite talent in Onitoni Large prior to it happening.
He made it very difficult for us to sign Taylan May and we nearly missed out on him because of it.
He then signed Starford To’a to a an extended deal even though blind Freddy could see he was clearly playing injured.
He makes mistakes just like everyone else, he was far from perfect in the recruitment and retention space.

Shaun is the correct guy to take over from Richo, should have happened in 2 years time when Shaun is ready.

Please the term ‘smart’ and ‘HBG’ can’t be used in the one phrase. They blew the place up whilst it was on an upward trajectory for the first time in 10 years

Well that was an hour of my life I won't get back.....

60 plus minutes of Richo telling the world how great he is at everything and how dumb everyone else is.

Even having a dig at at transgender people? Wtf?

Absolutely full of himself. Might explain why he walked away from so many jobs.

Can we just move on!

Seriously?
I am a Wests Tigers fan. I will happily watch highlights from Pat Richards, Taniela Tuiaki etc.

I give NO CRAP about our board minutes, balance books, General manager, etc.
Was Richo a good GM? yea. Did he build Soutfs? Yes, but also had Russell Crowe pinch him stars and a community behind him. Shawn M will be a good GM too.

If the Wests Tigers is about Richo, in any way, our club should fold.
Our club is about US, our team, our side.
Who takes the field and how we develop our players is critical. Yes the GM is involved, they are less important then the head coach. S M will do his best and hopefully build the relationships the old guy had.

Yea, stuff happened. He is gone. Move on and build our team.

He fixes problems.. every single club he left in a better place than when he walked in. Not everyone stays in the one job for 40 years.

It would be great to move on and we thought we had with the Wests Tigers independent board but Unfortunately we can’t because we are on a merry go round of incompetence with HBG.
