Sharks in Trouble again.

Why should not the penalty be at this stage, whilst it is under investigation, Sharks are unable to compete in the current competition. Stops clubs making a mockery of the cap and that even 'only historical' past infractions have an immediate effect on the club until situation resolved. It will speed assessment of situation, who did what and then a speedy resolution.

This just keeps getting more interesting.

So the picture I had about Cronulla being financially sound may not be the case at all.
Surely if this is true Rothfield would have known for some time, and now the story about the three month investigation into the salary cap rort and their possible financial woes all hit the surface.
Coincidence - I think not., Dont poke the Buzzard.

Greenberg, the Inspector Clouseau of the NRL.

Probs too afraid to investigate any club or person within the NRL given the amount of skeletons he has in his closet.

I think someone else was going to beat him to the jump.

I do understand what you're saying though, he professes to be this tragic but soon as the chips are down he's the first to lay the boot in to the point where you'd think he hated the club, He strikes me as a fair weather of the highest order. When the Wanderers were flying high a few years back he was going to all their games, spunking his pants over the RBB and the atmosphere and then when they fell off a cliff you didn't hear jack from him about them afterward, in fact the DT sports section went back to knocking the RBB and their antics and how WSW weren't prepared to do anything about it and how the FFA had to take a hard line on them.

He's a petty man, you only need read his blog and his running vendetta against Gould from when Gould issued him a legal letter a decade ago about a story he ran on him. It would not come as a surprise though if he burnt down the Sharks just because of what those two dunderheads said about him.

Player managers and clubs need to be severely penalised for this.

As for players, 2041 made good points. Referral to the ATO would be the only punitive avenue the NRL could take, and that's only a threat if the money is undisclosed to them. Would standing them down for their remainder of their contract be a restraint of trade? They still get paid their monies owed, both whatever is above board and ill-gotten, but they cannot compete until their contract has lapsed and an above board contract is registered and approved by the NRL?

Who is the player who received the money
I believe it is one of these three

Ben barba 2015/16
James Maloney 2016/17
Jack Bird 2015/17

In the grand final
Barba 1 try 4 points
Maloney 3 goals 6 points

Sharks won by 2 points
If the player involved was either Barba or Maloney then the Nrl should have the balls to strip the Sharks of the premiership

If they dont then what that is telling clubs is
If you cheat the cap this year we will slap you on the bottom

But you will have an advantage the next year and beyond
So it's ok
We will let you keep your premiership

Supposedly only Barry Russell , Greennberg and the salary cap guys knew

The board of the ARLC didn't even know until Thursday

I got the feeling that it was a player who may have NOT played in the GF from what was said on 360

They said they were there GF day , ran around with players with the shield

Kurt Capwell and Joseph Paulo were in the extended squad for the GF that didn't play.

In red are the years played
Counts out
JP
KC
JSF
And why take the risk on the other 3
You would only do it to try and get a big name player
Would you not

It doesn’t matter about the GF. If he played a game for them in the season It attributed to them being IN the final in the first place.

Strip em. And play for zero points next year. There has been a precedent

**Does it matter that your only over the cap by $250,000 - damn right it does.**
It is cheating and unfair to some of the other NRL clubs, won't say all, because you can't include the others that are cheating.

Sharks were not compliant in 2015, ok in 2016, no good in 2017 and 2018 to be decided. If they signed x, y, z players in 2015 for e.g. two years - aren't they still there in 2016 and would not have been able to sign them if they didn't cheat. They may not be over in 2016 but they would not have the same team and won the comp if they didn't cheat in 2015\. So technically they cheated in 2016 as well and should have the Premiership taken off them.

You cannot blame the previous management and get away with it. Nothing to do with what management - it is the club. They are building quite a record of cheating and it is time to close them down. Merge with St. George or move them to Perth at best or just get rid of the cheats altogether.

BUT - as usual Greenberg will do nothing.

What is that magical dollar figure that makes people say strip em.I mean teams are regularly $100,000 over and people don't say squat.$250,000 is approaching that amount….But is it that amount?...Hmmmm.
